I carry a bottle with me, I think a belt would annoy me and all the sloshing would feel weird, If I drink all the gatorade in my bottle I'll just stop at a fountain and fill er' up.

I bought a hiking belt from REI a LONG time ago.  It is a combination fanny pack that holds two also water bottles.  When tightened down, there is no slop and it feels ok.  It may not be the best looking or most "speedy" looking, but it does what it is supposed to on long runs.

I also bring a couple bucks if I'm going a long way from home and refill at a 7-11 or something.

I also picked up a "hiking" belt from REI this year.  Has worked well for me on longer runs.

Wow, so many varied answers :-) So in conclusion, there are many options, I just have to find the one that works for me :-) Darn, looks like its time to go shopping for a new doo dad...sigh, how I do hate shopping (SARCASM!)

I am either going to get a fuel belt, with all the itty bitty bottles or a bottle holder. Thanks for the opinions everyone :-)

I do a lot of trail running and use a camek bak fanny that holds 40 or so OZ's, which is insulated and holds my keys, flask of gel, and endurolytes. The fanny doesn't work well in temps below mid 20's, or at least I haven't found a great way. Once you learn to adjust the straps when you start out it's easy to keep it from bouncing.

In the winter I use my Camel Bak Mule pack, so I can have extra clothes or a place to stash clothing if temps change, plus the tube is insulated so I can usually keep drinkable water with me in the cold temps.

I had the fanny packs that held regular water bottles but they never worked that great.

I know alot of folks love there fuel belts and amphipods, but I can't see how you can keep that cool on a hot day of trail running, and I can't stand warm water or gatorade when running. I can't imagine those little bottles even if froze can still be cold 60 or 90 minutes after starting a long run let along 30 minutes on a somewhat warm day, or freezing quickly on the cold days. If there's a secret to this I'd like to know it as those belts look to be comfy.

I use the fuel belt for anything under 13 miles and anything over that Camelback Mule backpack.  I find it great to carry cell phone, power bars, gu's.  Once you get all the air out of the bladder it sits fairly well.

I carry and stash a 20oz water bottle at a good point along the route if I'm running where I know there are no bathrooms or water fountains. Another of my routes which is an out-and-back conveniently has a bathroom facility at about the 3 mile mark, so I can hit it each way. Only thing that sux is the bathrooms are locked overnight so if you gotta go on an early run you're screwed. I also carry at least one gel on runs getting into double digit mileage.

I personally found that my fuel belt was putting pressure on my insides and contributing to the Collywobbles  that used to strike quite often during training and races. (I don't get the collywobbles any more)

What do you mean here by collywobbles.  I wore my fuelbelt in an Oly race for first time last week and got a couple of bad stitches - coach wondered if it may have been caused by the pressure of the fuelbelt?

Collywobbles are sort of a nice way to describe "Gastrointestinal Distress".

Fuel belts, especially if they are cinched down to keep them from flapping around tend to put awkward pressure on my lower insides. I did not make the connection until I ran a race without it and did not have any issues.

I could see where it could also cause a side stitch.
