Total Time = 1h 30m 44s
Overall Rank = 99/452
Age Group = Male 35-39
Age Group Rank = 11/38
Pre-race routine:

This was my first Tri, so no special routine involved. Got into transition plenty early to make sure everything was set up and then juts chilled and tried to eat and drink a bit.
Swim
  • 15m 41s
  • 800 yards
  • 01m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim went better than I expected. With this being my first Tri, the swim made me the most nervous. But the shallow depth of the water allwing me to "dolphin" when necessary gave me confidence. Felt strong swimming and never had an issue with breathing.
What would you do differently?:

Train more.
Transition 1
  • 02m 4s
Comments:

T1 went ok. Took more time that I should have wiping all the little rocks off my feet from the run from the beach to transition before putting my bike shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more...
Bike
  • 44m 8s
  • 14 miles
  • 19.03 mile/hr
Comments:

Course suited me well. Climbs were long grinders which I prefer over short steeps. Lots of DH's too which are my strong point beign a former Downhill mountain bike racer. Found the course to be fast and was able to stay aero more than some other courses. A little headwind in places, but nothing bad.
What would you do differently?:

Train more. lol!!! Work on power and leg strength. Cardio felt good, quads got tired.
Transition 2
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

Felt strong coming into T2. Got kinda disoriented wiht all the commotion going on. Lost track of which was was "out" to the run.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe stay a little calmer and spend more time studying the course beforehand
Run
  • 27m 14s
  • 3.38 miles
  • 08m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

Run surprised me. Thought I'd be a lot stronger, but I felt like crap. My lower back really hurt coming off the bike for some reason. Never felt that before. Felt like my stride was really short and that I was going really slow. Turns out that I actually ran the 5k(+/-) in anly about 1min. slower a pace than I do normally. Really wierd!!!
What would you do differently?:

DO MORE BRICKS!!!!!
Post race
Warm down:

Little warmdown really. Jogged around for a minute or so. lol!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not sure considering it was my first race.

Event comments:

No drink station on the bike course...
