Subject: Anyone from Show Low (area)???

I know this probably a total long shot, but my husband and I were in Show Low doing the Tour of the White Mountains yesterday.  We spent the night at the Holiday Inn Express and got woken up this morning by the manager telling us our jeep had been broken into.  Got down stairs and realized they had stolen our bikes.  Amazingly, the idiots broke the passenger window but never bothered to open the car as the doors were still locked.  Lucky too, because in our near hypothermic state the night before, someone (not me) left his wallet in the center console, albeit buried under some stuff.

If anyone is from that area and happens to see either of the following:

2008 Gary Fisher Marlin (blk/silver), has/had a cannondale saddle bag and a Vetta computer and a mount for a headlight, 15.5" frame, platform pedals

or

a Gary Fisher Cake 3 DLX (blk/silver), Fox fork, probably a couple mounts for a headlight and gps on the handlebars, SPD pedals - its a newer model, but I don't recall the year.

Could you please let me know?  There is really nothing more identifying on them other than some scratches.  I have only had that bike for about 3 months, the other for maybe 6 months.  We filed a police report up there, but frankly it looks like we'll both be bike shopping.

That sucks! Sorry to hear about the theft. Check with your home insurance and see if they cover the bikes.

We will.  I'm less concerned about mine since it only cost me ~350, but my husbands estimated value was something like $1,500.

So sorry to hear that Keep an eye on craigs list, that is where a lot of stolen bikes end up.

I have a 13" Jamis Dakota XC hardtail if you'd like to borrow it. It's going to be too small for you but you're welcome to use it! It's not a bad bike - it has a mix of LX/XT components and is made of steel so it rides somewhat comfy. The fork kinda sucks but it works. I live right next to Tempe Town Lake.

Thanks.  One of the guys we work with happens to have the slightly better version of my bike (i.e. it has disc brakes).  Other than being one size bigger, which I can probably manage by dropping the seat, I think I'm going to take his for the weekend.  It's only 10-11 miles right?  After watching some of these guys finish, including my husband, and being soaked and covered in mud, but determined to walk across that finish line (too windy & muddy to ride), I don't even care about my time.  I'm going to go have fun and if I'm last, then so be it.
