My best friend is an ortho. He has treated many triathletes and runners and martialartists. He said NOT to get a shot unless last resort. Cortisone shots actually weaken the tissue down there. It is hurting for a reason and taking the pain away is only masking it. Especially if you are going to run 26.2 on it when the pain goes away. He says PT, strassburg sock, spiked ball, stretches ,etc. is much better. Also each shot weakens it and too many will cause it to atrophy and even rupture.
