Pre-race routine:

Surf BT, coffee and oatmeal.
Event warmup:

Stretching, trotted down to lake to let Butter drink some water. Chatted with my supervisor (his daughter put the race together for her senior class project).

Comments:

Ran the race with Butter on his leash. All the trails are part of my training program. At 20 minutes or so, had to stop and Butter pooped and I had did bring along a doggy bag to clean up. Couple times on the trail by the creek, let him go off leash to get water if he wanted.

I thought I went out kinda swift. Mass start with the 5k runners and walkers. Ran by myself most of the second 2/3 of the race.

Right foot started to get numb feeling at about 40 minutes. Ran all the up hill portions. Happy with that.
What would you do differently?:

Not be so freaking heavy...I can feel the heavyness on the legs and feet.

Post race
Warm down:

Took Butter to the lake to get water. Had to wait around for wife to come pick me up.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weight.

Event comments:

First time event, organized by a High School Senior. Shook her hand after the race and told her outstanding job. Proceeds go to a worthy cause.

I hope they keep this event and/or somebody else keeps this course for a race.. It narrows quickly in the trails, but the course is challenging, scenic and nice to run on.

too cool, i did a 5k with my dog this weekend. Your course sounds more dog suited but it was fun. Good work.
