20 weeks is plenty of time!! You've got a great base, you'll do awesome. I used the BT HIM plan for my first HIM and it was great! Have fun!

I'm in!  This is my first 1/2 IM and is being used as an indicator for my 1st IM (IMKY) on August 30!  Is anyone from W. MI driving down that way and staying for the weekend?

You definitely have the time and base to do this race.  I use most of the BT 1/2 IM program and like you have an early 1/2 marathon.  I sub'd the running days in the BT program with the 1/2 marathon program and it works out pretty well.  Good luck and see you in Muncie.

Just checking in - how is everyone doing?

I missed a few weeks of training due to some personal things and illness, but am back in teh saddle trying to make it.

I am sooo nervous about the time limits now that I have missed a bit of training.  I am a slow swimmer, and a slow runner and my cycling has been hit or miss due to bike issues - ala a broken rear rim.  I have yet to ride longer than 46 miles and my runs have been pretty short as well.  I am just so afraid that I will have a bad experience and am trying to keep positive about this.

I figure that if I can start the race no later than 8AM (I have no clue what the wave schedules are) - I can finish the race with some time to spare.  I am basing my finish on really cnoservative times (i.e. my slowest half amarathon ever, my slowest average bike speed of late, etc.).  Oh man I am sooo freaking out!

Someone help me calm down, please!  I just do not know if I am ready.  I am oly ready - that I know, but HIM ready?  Is the remaining 6 weeks or so enough time to refocus and get it done?

Anyone have suggestions on where to stay? It seems as though every hotel in Muncie is sold out- are there any recommendations for places that don't show up on hotels.com? We were planning on camping, but recently decided it might just be easier to stay at a hotel. If not Muncie, what other towns should I check out?

Anderson is the next closest town and since it is right off the Interstate you drive in the AM is not toooo bad....still stinks to get up that extra bit early to drive over but with the race site in the middle of nowhere, that's what happens.....

Staying in Anderson myself mit that means anything to anyone.....

My training is o.k....this race is just an organized training day for IMKY.....so from that perspective, I'm not stressing it...
As for your nerves, this is one of the easiest 1/2 IM bike courses I have ever ridden.....I may be wrong but it would not surprised me if it measured a bit short......the swim for some reason times out long for me each year and the run is about spot on......if we were to have a slight southerly breeze (notice I didn't say wind) that could make for some VERY fast bike splits.....

This is a good race, don't sweat the training at this point and just focus on having fun and things will come together!

I have family coming up for the race and they could not find a room in Muncie, so they opted for the Hampton Inn in Anderson.  Still have rooms available.

Looks like we found a hotel that has room and takes dogs! Sweet! Sometimes you just gotta call hotels, and not rely on their online availability...now hopefully we WILL actually have a place to sleep Friday night

BTW, did anyone else sign up for the open division?!

There were for the men last year, can't remember what they did for the women.  With the storm that came in last year, they were starting to combine some of the waves to try and beat the lightening.

I thought the waves last year were something like Senior folks first, some women waves, then older guys like 40 and over, then younger guys.  I'm quite certain that Curegirl and Amyengel went in the wave in front of me.  I know I swam up into two different colored caps and then towards the end was passed by at least one or two other colored caps.  Seemed to be the standard swim setup of what they deemed possible groups with slower swimmers going first then the fasty's bringing up the rear.

Of course with the storms they picked up some swimmers and got them off the water due to some nasty lightening.

I'm looking forward to the race this weekend. It's my second half ironman, my first being Florida 70.3 in 2006.

Anyone planning to meet up at the race?

Ill be there wearing my bright yellow BT shirt from IMKY.  Were staying at the campground right next to transition.  Will probably hit the expo right around 3 and attend the 4PM meeting.  I did it last year, but still might go just to see whats going on.
