More information about getting an animal from this shelter in case anyone is interested.
Procedure
If you call the shelter in Gaston County, it is very important that you talk to Lisa. If she does not answer the phone, ask for her. I send the shelter emails out to the different group, including to the group that you replied to. The shelter gasses at 8 AM, at 4 PM and if they still have
too many pets, they will again gas at 5 PM.
Further, if an animal gets sick with a runny nose, diarrhea, vomiting, or whatever, they will gas that pet and not hold it for a scheduled gassing. They also have the option of gassing an animal anytime else during that is the release date. There is no guarantee that the pet will be
held until 4 PM. IF you are interested in getting a pet, you must call the shelter immediately before the release date. You will be able to pick the animal up the day before the release date if you are there by 4:30 PM to do the paperwork and then promptly at 5:01 you can get the pet and leave because they will close. OR you can get there when they open on the release day (they open to the public at 11 AM) and try to get the animal but you are taking your chances that the animal will still be alive.
These people are serious. They will not play around. Your best bet to secure an animal is to contact Kathy, Lisa, Rhonda, Marcie or Jen by phone or email, this information is listed at the beginning of each email. Tell them the tag # of the pet, and have them pull it for you.
