But to take your kids there?? That seems pretty irresponsible to me.

I saw that pool on Globetrekker not long ago.  The video they shot was great.  While I'm not sure I'd go swimming, I'd love to see the place.

DerekL - 2008-11-26 2:43 PM That gives me the willies just looking at it.

x2.

I was a jumpmaster in the military, no problem rock climbing/mountaineering/repelling, worked in helicopters for the past 8 years and I've completed a few high-angle rescue courses. But I can't lean over the edge of a building and look down without feeling like my legs are made out of rubber. That would smooth freak me out...

If I was in a harness and tied off to something, I'd get up on the edge. But without that, can't do it.

Yep.  I'm not afraid of heights.  I'm afraid of falling.

And landing.

Like they say: It's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop.

As for Devils Pool, I might be able to handle that although I'd never stand on the edge like the guy with the camera in the first shot.

But the little ledge under the Guyana waterfall? I think I'd pass on that.

Some people are born with a strong sense of self-preservation, and some are not!  I want to live to drink my next bottle of Cabernet Savignon. Nuff said!

No thanks,  wonder who was the first person to actually wade out there to see the edge.   "edge doesn't seem to crumbly....."

Gah. I got a little queasy just looking at that. I'd be too worried about slipping on the rocks or a surge of water pushing me over the edge. That's a long way down--plenty of time to wish I'd taken the family to Epcot instead.
