Except for the long downhill after Nasty, and the metal bridge (be careful if that's wet) a few showers wouldn't be such a bad thing,

That said, when they can get tomorrow's weather right, I'll believe what they say about 10 days from now

ChrisM - 2009-04-21 4:56 PM Oh, I forgot.... in the athlete guide, there's a nutrition talk on Saturday, by some guy and "Survivor Winner Parvati"    WTF?????????????????????????????????????????

I saw an article on her in Competitor or something a couple months back...might be worth watching, er, listening to.

She raced Tritonman here in San Diego back in February. She seemed nice. Interesting that she's giving a nutrition talk.

Wow... You're right. I checked this morning and it said 80 sunshine. Now it says 74 with 60% chance of showers. Yikes!

Weather.com blows...seriously.  I've been kind of tracking it this year and when there's been a difference between their forecasts, accuweather.com has been right and weather.com has been wrong 100% of the time.

So far accuweather.com is saying 80F and mostly sunny.

Pay the $$, drive in, find a spot that's slightly bigger than your tent, put up your tent.  It's not like normal camping where it's a tent or two per spot.  More like 10 or 20.  The folks at the gate will give you advice where to go if you don't have a plan.

this is what most will have (actually some will have some quite large tents).  It's going to be a big tent city, so just pick your spot.  The only tip I'd have is that only some of the bathrooms have showers, so it's nice to be close to one of those.  Oh yeah, bring your own TP since it's so crowded and TP can be in short supply.

Obsessive weather forecast watching starting to ramp up...

accuweather.com = 83F and sunny for Saturday's high.  But look at that overnight low Friday night/Saturday AM:  38 degrees!  I'm liking my 9am wave start okay right now.

It's changing pretty quickly, back and forth and all over the place depending on the source:

from the NWS

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 73.

Friday Night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45.

Saturday: A slight chance of showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 75.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 46.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 78.

Accuweather shows 81, weather.com shows 80, weatherunderground shows "Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers in the morning...becoming partly cloudy. Highs in the mid 60s to lower 70s."

Yup.  And also the "saying it's an ironman when it's really a half iron" brouhaha, IIRC.  (Both of which fall into the "don't you people on BT have some training you could be doing?" category of brouhahas in my book and fwiw...)

Not my favorite TBL contestants, but my wife and I are big fans of the show, so it'd be interesting to maybe try to talk to one of them about the experience.

i wonder if they'll be sporting Biggest Loser tri top and tri shorts?  Well good for them regardless for sticking with fitness and discovering triathlon.  Maybe they'll be at Vineman this August too...  I'm like 3 weeks behind on the show.  Hubby goes away tomorrow so I can catch up.

I really hope it doesn't rain Fri nite.  I've camped in the rain before and it blows.  Let's hope it is typical So Cal panic for the weather forecasting and it will be beautiful!  I'm hoping for lower temps too, since my wave starts at 9:20 thank you very much.

Good luck to everyone!
