From the head weather guy at the TV station in New Orleans:

Steve,
Lake temp is 68 degrees.  Winds on Sunday will be SW shifting to NW 15-20 mph.  There is a 30% chance for spotty late morning and afternoon showers or thunderstorms.

Good luck,

Well if I must, I'll swim! I did 500 in the calm waveless pool last night in the wetsuit and am ready to go. I won't go fast, but I'll go until I either finish or die. Or just collapse, which is highly possible. I LOVE THE HEAT!

I am planning on swimming tomorrow but not set on a time. I am driving in from Lafayette and will try to get a swim after a briefing. I will be leaving when the wife and kids are up and packed. My estimated time is 3:00 for the swim.

Stormed pretty bad today here in New Orleans. I passed over the Lake for work this morning. Very ruff with about 2 ft chop. Hopefully all of this will pass.

I'd like to swim around 3 as well. Shall we meet at one of the host hotels, gather a group? We could meet at 2:30 or 3?

LazyMarathoner - 2009-03-30 9:07 PM My 6-month old shoulder injury resurfaced so this week has turned into a struggle just to get to the start. How frustrating.

Take it easy! What bad timing, huh?!

Yeah, just my luck. I had some work done on it today, it's my bicep tendon. My range of motion seems to be there so it's just pain management.

I am planning on attending the 2:00 briefing and swimming after. So i will be at the host hotel around 2:30. I should not be hard to find, I will be the one pushing a five month old in the stroller and chasing a four year old with the other hand.

At what level of fecal count will the swim be canceled? The chart says caution above 200 MPN - (mean probable number of colonies of bacteria in 100 milliliters of water).

I'm gonna get to the expo sometime around mid day. Any ideas on how to identify each other? Not sure of the set-up or I'd suggest somewhere to meet. Haven't decided what to wear yet.

The whole fecal count thing is REALLY grossing me out.....Do people regularly swim in this pool of poo or just us?  On the other hand...I can't think of better motivation to get the heck out of the water....I see a swim PR in the future!

This is not an area where most people swim recreationally. But the gno tri club trains there on a regular basis. I'm just amazed that you guys apparently have clean lakes where you live. I'm just gonna keep my mouth closed except to breathe & hope I don't get splashed in the face by a wave.

I swam in the Hudson River in NYC last year where you have to dodge loose diapers and dead bodies. Can this be worse? I guess it makes the case for having a few drinks tonight to kill the fecal bacteria!
