DanielG - 2009-05-28 7:05 PM One week until I get up there. 7 days, 21:54:10

I'm not worried at all about the swim....first year I did it I think it was 55 or 56. Now I"m smart and just do relays and skip that swimming part.

Great race...always fun, well organized and a blast. I can't wait....

You have your arrival time figured out to the minute? I don't even know who in my family is going yet....

It's almost time for the party to begin!!!!
Goody bags were stuffed last night. We spent 6 hrs yesterday am making the ice cream for you all. Met with the Liquor commissioner too, to go over the Margarita and Beer area. The pink flamingos came in (yup, pink flamingos, you'll just have to wait and see), the HD internet cables have been dropped on course for the live webcasts. The CD's have been burned for the run course...Timing chip packets are almost done.

Box trucks with supplies are being filled starting today. Equipment is being loaded, too.

New finish area looks great. We brought in a truckload of fill, to fill in the low-lying areas, so if it rains it won't have standing water. Even after the past 2 days, it still looks good. We'll also be covering it with carpet....

Will be up at Newfound tomorrow, putting out the stakes for the directional arrow. If you see a bewildered looking dude with a stake and pounder in his hand, stop by and say hi.

Really fired up for Moose!!!!!!!!

So, I won't be making it to Mooseman this year

I've had a ridiculous on and off fever since Monday - I went to bed at 101.6 last night, and woke up in the 97s this morning. Went to the doctor today, and while the quick strep test came back negative, she thought mono was a high possibility because my throat was so inflamed and 'puss filled.' They took a blood sample to figure out if its mono, and a second throat swab to see if its some other bacteria or another kind of strep.

I'm seriously bummed - I've been training since January and this was going to be my first HIM. I gained a lot of confidence on the bike over the past few months (rode a lot of hills!) and even pre-rode the bike course so I'd be comfortable with it... I also pre-paid my hotel to get the cheaper rate - because of course it never crossed my mind that I'd get ridiculously sick in the 5 days before the race!!

Anyway, I hope all of you have fun!! I hope the weather holds out and that the water is warm (well, above 60 at least ). And say hello to the lady on Devil's Hill for me!

I hope you improve quickly. How sad to be well trained and ready to race but get an odd illness. Maybe you can do another HIM soon? Patriot is 13 days later in MA so you could use your training still. It is a lot flatter.
