Yup, that's my goal: Finish. Maybe I'll have a time goal for my second one, but I'll be pleased just to have numbers rather than letters next to my name for my first.

I'll be at the briefing this afternoon. Wearing a black Ford Koeln (Cologne) Marathon t-shirt. If you see me, please say hi. (I'm Jim, as my "handle" suggests.) Will probably do an early dinner after the briefing and would welcome company.

If anyone needs bike tweaking, I had great service yesterday at David's World Cycle in Orlando. Not sure of their pre-race workload, but you can reach them at 407-447-2486. http://davidsworld.com.

Good luck to all!

seeing that the heat is going to be a huge factor with me. finishing would be nice. i just do not want to get disqualified, or have did not finish next to my name.

those are my humble goals.

see y'all later. i'm going to universal today.

Arrived this am, the heat doesn't seem too bad...right now.  My goals:

1) Finish
2) Finish in less than 7 hours
3) Finish no faster than 6:15 because I swore to someone that if I did I would get an M-Dot tattoo on my forehead, which isn't sounding like such a good idea now.  Fortunately, I don't think there is much risk of me needing to follow through on this promise.

I'm headed to packet pick up soon, then hotel check in.  After that I have to decide if I am going to sit in my hotel room and panic, or get out and socialize.

Hey guys, checking in again.
Got to meet Ericmac at packet p/u. very nice girl, erin you'll do great!!
The heat started to kick in while we were at packet p/u, hmmm feels like Florida.
Things were very painless, in and out in about 15mins, then another 45 or so browsing the items for sale and the expo. Met a guy from Ceepo Bikes named Richard Nixon!!!! very nice and settled me on my next saddle.
finished shopping for room items, ensure, gatorade, sunscreen, etc.
Off to sit by the pool with the wife and enjoy some munchies before dinner at Outback.
All numbers on Bike, Helmet, etc.
very relaxing.

i wrecked my bike in my grandmas retirement community! i went to turn into the driveway and my friend didn't know it was the entrance and i got t-boned.  he broke a spoke on his front wheel and i bent my derailer bracket, a lot, the bike wouldn't even switch gears.  after freaking out and lot of cussing i found a bike shop up the road; they were able to bend it back without snapping it off...it's shifting a little funky, but at least it's shifting now!

Saw you getting onto the bus at the parking lot (heading into registration).  Wanted to say hi, but had to rush out (I was a young guy in sun glasses, hat and black pants).

Gotta say I was dissapointed with the "gift bag".  The best thing in there was an expired first endurance coupon.

Good luck to all!

I KNOW we will all do great and have lot so fun

My goals are to qualify for nationals and beat last years time by 20 mins.

Ooops that was my goal 2 months ago.

Goal has changed to have fun and finish without ending up in the med tent lol

Maybe instead of walking the aid stations and running in between I will change it to run the aid stations then walk in between them.

Good news it definitely is going to be cooler than last year. It also looks like less wind which might be nice on the bike but will be missed on the run.

I hope it rains to cool us off but I don't think that will happen until after the race is completely over.

The forecast looks pretty good. The winds are forecast to be light so no problem with those disk and deep rimmed wheels. Also forecast is partly / mostly cloudy and not reaching 80 F until around 11am. You can’t ask for much better in Central Florida in the middle of May.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow!

Sorry I didn't make it down to Carrabba's.  I arrived in FL to find out my bank cancelled my credit and debit cards (all I brought besides some cash) due to some kind of fraudulent activity...the new ones arrived in the mail already...in COLORADO!  Anyway, this has changed some of my plans.

Have a fun race!

I beat my goal of sub 6 hrs!! Finishing in 5:57:56 by my watch, cant find results posted yet? Was out of T2 in 3:43 and on pace for a 5:45-5:47 finish but the legs started to tighten at mile 4 of the african grassland run. Knowing I had my goal in hand, I shut it down and coasted in rather then push it and blow up.
Totaly slaming the Garotade now, off for sushi and COLD beer in a bit.
Hope all had fun!!

I did a 5:29! Not bad considering the run out there was way too hot for an Englishman. What happened to the cloud cover we were expecting in the afternoon - I was thinking a 1:45 half marathon would be do-able but ended up with a 2:09.

Hope everyone had a good race!

5:51:17!  Very happy with my first HIM results.  Cube - thx again (i shouted to you at the pizza table) for the help and recommendations via this forum.

Was it me, or did it feel like 100 degrees w/ 100% humidity (and an astronomical UV index) during the run?  Started to cramp a little at m8 and pretty hard at m12...but pushed thru!

Congrats to all finishers!!

7:02:21 for my first HIM.  Got my first goal to finish.  Missed my second to finish in under 7 hrs by just a bit.  I had a good swim - 43 and change.  I had an awesome bike 2:43, and I just about died on the run.  It was pure guts to keep on going.  I had SEVERE cramps in my legs (quads and calves) and could not run more than a couple hundred feet without walking.  I even walked across the finish line.  I tried to run in the chute but the legs were already at the hotel.  I took a good hour and a half of hydrating and laying down in the shade before I felt like leaving.   To add insult to injury, we were forced to ride our bikes back to where we parked.  Did I mention I was cramping for almost 4 hours (after race too)?  All in all a good day, and I will write a report tomorrow.  As soon as I got into transition to pack, I called my wife, and she asked, "how do you feel?"  I said, "I feel great, but I'm lying on my back in transition feeling like I'd like to cut my legs off from the pain."  That got a laugh out of one of my rack-mates who overheard me.

FlChris...
I heard ya and appreciate. I was soooo dying and bumbed they DIDN'T have Gatorade at the finish or in the pizza line and they were out of Coke. Went back later and got a coke.
I hope some of what I posted helped a few of you to have a better day.
Im happy breaking 6hrs but will not return to this race until they change that run course. I swear It was 10 degrees hotter on that grass/dirt. Having my Gatorade I.V. now...lol

Great job everyone!

Are the results up? I can't find the athlete tracker to look up how folks did.

I found it finally...

Special congrats to Bostonbeginner on his first 70.3!
