I'd like the scoop...

I live approx 20 mins from where the race was. Last year I trained during the hottest part of the day and yet race day still found me suffering from the heat.

So this year I did things differently(admittedly it was cooler this year but still fairly hot).I have often heard it takes 7 days to acclimate to heat so I started the following 7 days out. I did NOT train during the warmest days. Have to admit in the 2 months before the race I ran just 3 miles, swam one time and biked 40 miles

I turned the A/C up in my house to 77 as opposed to the usual 74. I also did not use the A/C in my car and had one window down just a couple inches. It was truly amazing to me how well this worked. Within 3 days it actually felt a little chilly when I went outside and it was 75 degrees.

I also wore a long sleeve underarmour knock off shirt and poured water on the shoulders so it went down my arms. I really did not feel hot the entire day and I was out there a LONG time.

Might not work for you but might be worth a shot. I am a true believe now.

Still wearing my wristband. Finished in about 6:34. My goal was under 5:30. Swim seem long to anyone else. I am thinking about 300yds. My bike computer said 57 miles. Then my knee started hurting on the run and walked most of the half mary. Not a good weekend for me.

You are not imagining anything with the bike or swim.

No true measuring device used for the swim but everyone I talked to (some long time swimmers) felt it was long by about 300m. Yeah, eveyone swam the same distance so we were all in the same boat as far as time and distance are concerned. That does not matter to me. I am always in a personal competition with myself and want to see my numbers improve each time. This swim made me feel like "what the hell?!?!?!?"

Both my Powertap and Garmin read the bike course as 58.5 miles.
