I have a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 650R and love it. Red too, matches my tri bike. Which makes it a little confusing.

"Yeah, I'm going for a bike ride. No the red one. No, the other red one."

I think the connection is just the active, outdoor, adventurous lifestyle.  It's convergent demographics.  Kind of like there are probably a lot of people who both spend more than 10 hours per week playing video games and eat fast food more than 3 times per week.

BTW, I have a 2002 Sportster 1200.

Motorcycle rider/racer here - I do both tri racing and moto racing for the same reason, as a way to focus and escape the nomal and every day "me".

First shot is fiancee and me (me in the lead!).  My race bike is an SV650 and my street bike is a Honda VTR1000 SuperHawk.  We do long distance vacation rides during the summer on our sport bikes as well as race.  We're cutting back a little on both this year due to our wedding in August and general economy cutbacks

PennState - 2009-01-17 9:18 AM I don't have a motorcycle, but when I worked in the ICU, they had a different name for motorcycles... it was a bit creepy....

Gee, none of us have ever heard about that.  Tell us, won't you?

Got it, Mom.

Glad there was no over-reaction.

I'm just saying to have fun in your bubble.  Enjoy that filtered air.

You bring the crowns and heads of conquered kings to my city steps. You insult my queen. You threaten my people with slavery and death! Oh, I've chosen my words carefully, Persian. Perhaps you should have done the same!

  Kidding... Mom.

Moto rider here. I currently own a 07' Yamaha XT225 for commuting. Next bike is in my avatar. V-Strom 650 or 1000. I would also love one of these:

In my case it is the adventure and being outdoors with friends. I had a HD Road King for 4 years before my1st child was born. During that time I spent many weekends riding across this beautiful country with friends. Now I am seeing the country side from an aero postion with these friends and love it just the same.

Mine is vintage, like all my rides: 1075 Honda CB400F,  1982 Raleigh Grand Prix, 1978 Datsun 620 King Cab.

jeffy_101 - 2009-01-15 4:55 PM FWIW, a LOT of professional motorcycle racers ride bikes and/or participate in triathlon.

That's what got me into bicycling to start with.  Read an article about how much it could help you ride better/faster.  I've ended up riding my bicycle or running outside any day that it's nice now, so the motorcycle is currently sold/up for sale.

It was a fun 2.5 years and 22k miles of riding, though.  I'll miss it a bit when it's gone.

I'm in as well.  Bought this when the gas prices started climbing - 50 miles per gallon, and lots of thrills per mile.

Sadly, my motorcycle days are long behind me. I had a 650 Honda Nighthawk before I had a car (or driver's license for that matter). That was followed by a limited edition Pearl White VFR700 Interceptor that my brother and I both went in on.

The last one I owned could hardly be considered a motorcycle, but it was a blast to zip around on - a Yamaha YSR50 - a tiny little 5 speed 50cc two stroke that would about 53mph topped out if I put my chin down on the tank to get below the fairing.

The fastest bike I ever rode was my friend's V65 Sabre - what a monster.

Today I have to settle for convertables, but I certainly can't complain about that department.

I had a Honda CB 360 that I rode back and forth for my summer job when I was home from college for two years in the late 80's.

I sold it to help buy an engagement ring.

I later had a Suzuki 650 but sold it when we had kids so we could by a...oh I hate to say it...station wagon. That was about 10 years ago.

I want another one but now that I live in Erie PA I may be better served with a snow mobile.

I do get the itch every spring.

I meant to say 1975!  Also I was wondering why my pic did not post? How do you attach a pic in the body of the thread?

Thanks Dave for the link to the thread. And I'm so glad to see LauraLynne addicted to tris too! He he. She did one and now is hooked and hanging out on the BT.

Motorcycles got me into tris. I roadraced motos for a few years, and wanted to get in better shape for that. So I decided to do a tri to help and got hooked on tris. Then we bought a fixxer upper house, so the roadracing funding has been derailed to the house and my hubby and I have been taking a break from the track. But we will go back in a few years when the house spending gets down to reasonable levels. I still have all the race stuff and gear. You know a racer has really quit when they sell the tire warmers, stands, etc.

Here's my first bike. We dug this '70 Hodaka Super Rat out of my parent's backyard and put it together enough to make it run and for me to learn to ride a motorcycle. I still have it and another '70 Hodaka Ace 100 awaiting restoration.

My first streetbike was a '72 Honda CL450 that I bought disassembled and in boxes from a guy for $100. He had started the restoration but wanted to work on a car instead. So my husband and I restored it and I learned to ride on the street with it. Later it became a vintage racer. I still have this one too.

My MZ Skorpion that I raced for many years. Love it, still have it.

One of my favorite pic angles:

I raced an R6 for awhile. We actually sold this one. We do all the paint ourselves on the bikes, and this was my favorite. When we sold it we covered it in silver as I didn't want someone running around with my paint job.

I raced a Yamaha TZ250 for awhile, then gave it to my husband who still races it. I'm not a 2-stroke person.

Right now between my husband and I we have 13 motorcycles in the garage (about 8 are mine). We can't seem to get rid of any as they are cool and have sentimental value.

13 bikes!!!  That is so awesome.  I thought I was cool when I had four.
