Subject: Ironman Lake Placid 2010
Hi everyone,

Does anyone know the date for Lake Placid in 2010?

I plan on helping out at this years event and signing up for 2010, but there is a very large Boy Scout event that I would like to take my son to and I'm hoping that they are not on the same date.

If anyone is privy to this please let me know.

Thanks,

I don't think there is anything "official" yet and I think it is a week later this year than it has been--don't know why.  But it should be either July 18 or 25 in 2010.

I hope not.  I already had one DNF in the rain there last year; I don't want to race in that again when I go back for revenge in 2010.   Although the year I finished it was a sunny day (2007).  Though other than 2008, I think the other really horrible year up there was 2003 from what I've heard, so maybe it isn't quite every other year (knock on wood)?

Are all of you volunteering this year to sign up for 2010.

That's my plan.  But with WTC buying all the NAS races I am not sure how on site sign up is going to work now ........

I've been wondering that myself. We have reservations for IM weekend this year and trying to decide if we should cancel them or not.

If I sign up it will rain or do something strange weather wise as that seems to be my norm on my A races.

I contemplating LP again in '10 or maybe FL. Lake Placid means I can race cyclocross in the fall and try to go to nationals in my first year in new 50 AG.

I'm glad I found this thread.  I've been lurking on the official 2009 IMLP thread but this is more appropriate.  I am signed up to volunteer in '09 and I want to compete in '10.  I volunteered in '08, couldn't believe how it rained all day!

Is anybody planning on biking the Saturday before the race?  I'd love to do one loop of the course just so I'll know what to expect.

As was mentioned, now that WTC owns the race they'll probably do sign up the same way as they did for Louisville 08. No on-site registration, just online. I'm sure they'll put out some info soon though.

That was our plan, to ride the loop one time around on Saturday and volunteer on Sunday, love to have you join us.

But now we'll have to wait and see what goes on.

I just sent an e-mail to ask them if there will be on-site registration, or not.  IMUSA 2010 is my first planned Ironman.

I look forward to hearing what they say as no on-site registration opens up more possibilities for IMs for me in '10.

I got an answer.  I'm happy there will be on-site registration because I am planning a family summer vacation in Lake George (an hour south of LP) and I plan on shooting up there to register!

Thank you for your interest in Ironman events!
We will have onsite registration at the 2009 Ford Ironman USA Lake Placid event  for 2010 Lake Placid. Any left over slots will be available online.
Thank you,

jazz82482 - 2009-01-30 12:43 PM Does it always sell out onsite?

2008 was the first year it sold out on site.

Each year is appears to be more popular as it is driveable location to much of the East Coast. But you never know, IM Canada went on line twice and has sold out on site for many many years.

I'm going to volunteer this year and register for next year too.

As for the no onsite - I wouldn't be surprised if WTC moved their races to the way NA did it - guarantees you a solid volunteer base.

I suspect with the new "pay when you register" system (i.e. credit card in hand, as opposed to a voucher with payment not due for several weeks) that no IM events will sell out on site this year... this from the man who lost a $1300 gamble when planning to register on-line for the 2009 race which sold out on-site in 08 (before the new registration system was adopted)

On another thread someone emailed NAS and asked if there would be on site registration and they said yes.

I hope it's onsite.  I'm planning a family vacation to the area based around volunteering and getting a 2010 spot.
