Someone in our local tri group's bike is trapped there...he shipped it back from IMAZ and was going to go in over Christmas to pick it up.  Now, he can not contact them.

Man that sucks. I bought my bike from those guys and don't have anything bad to say about them. They always seemed to take good care of me when I brought my bike back.Hopefully your friend will get his bike back soon.Best of luck to him.

Just the Arlington Heights shop, right?  I knew they were out of business, but I had been in the chicago store early January and they were still up and running.

Rumor is the Randolph Street location is closing too. I haven't been over there in awhile but I was about to schedule my tune up. That sucks because they were the only bike shop remotely close to me. There's a Kozy's up on Erie, I suppose. But where will I get my spandex!!!

I was in there about a month ago (randolf street) and they had no heat. It was freezing in there. They had no lights on and we had to ask to go look at the bikes. It was odd.

The downtown store has had a sign on it for a couple of weeks saying they are doing "Inventory".  I think it is most likely closed as well, but I could be wrong.

I hope that Tri Bike Transport partners with another shop in the area.  I was planning on using them for some races this year.  I'm too lazy to breakdown my bike and pack it on a plane.

Went past Randolph store this morning--FOR LEASE sign in the store.  Both are officially closed.

Get A Grip on Fulton is pretty close to the old Randolph location.....I would go there before Kozy!!!!

I just saw the owner of the Arlington Store at the gym and he said that things were not going well on many fronts. He said that there might be a chance that the Chicago one will reopen because there is a girl that had worked there who is thinking about keeping it going. We shall see.

Just a quick FYI.  I talked to Tri Bike Transport and they are partnering with another store in Chicago.  They will be updating their site in early February with who it is.

P.S.  I agree about going to Get a Grip over Kozy any time.

I knew the downfall was comming when the flagship store (in Elgin since the 80's) closed and the longtime owner was getting out.  Bill was an amazing guy who always provided me with the best service.  When I moved out of Elgin I still drove back in to get all of my triathlon supplies.  He was an outstading bike fitter and understood the needs of all levels of athletes.  He always worked to find the best equitment for your needs not his bottom line.  I hope he is doing well and anytime we tri-realted stores go under it is a sad day!

I agree. It wasn't the same without Bill. I always enjoyed seeing him at the store.

I never knew Bill. I knew Aaron and I liked him.  I got my first wetsuit from mission bay when I really needed it.  He always gave me a good deal and I wish I could given him more business.

According to Dan Empfield ( QRoo founder, now of Slowtwitch fame ) Bill and Val ( the original MB owners ) are going to be re-opening the Elgin store around the beginning of March.

Sounds like just the Elgin store, neither the Arlington Heights or Chicago locations are mentioned.

Drove by there the other day and there were bikes in the window and it looks like they painted as well.
