Water temp should be low 60's if the weather is as forecasted. Low 60's is fine to swim in. Not a big deal if it rains on Sunday either - the course is pretty flat and has very few turns on the bike course, none of which are super sharp if I remember correctly.

I like seeing that water temp creep up

This is my first triathlon (other than a mini-sprint) and I'm going to freeze my a$$ off, so I have a question about nutrition - How about the Irish Coffee in a thermos on the bike instead of gatorade?  Wink

Hello All
Teresa and I will be there this weekend. You will be able to identify us as the wife who keeps giving her husband the "what were you thinking looks". Are there any post race celebration plans? We missed out on the Jingle all the Way last year but were hoping to meet some people from the board this weekend?

I don't think there are any set plans for a gathering. I will eat hot dogs and drink beer with my tri team and then hang out with the people I'm staying with. Tri-peeps are friendly, though, so I'm sure you'll run into at least one BT'er.

You are with Team Z correct? Do you know a guy named Luke? He trained for an IM with Team Z last year I believe.

He's my neighbor.

I only started with Team Z this December, so if he's not on the team anymore, I wouldn't know him. There are also still people whose names I don't know, and I'm sure even people who are on the team but don't regularly attend practice so I haven't met them yet. Can't remember if I've met any Lukes.

So we aren't your tri team? We are just "the people you are staying with?"

So, I have a quick question. This is my first tri. I'm traveling down all the way from PA on Saturday. I'm staying overnight at a hotel, are we allowed to bring bicycles into hotel rooms? Obviously I can't just leave it on my bike rack on the car. Anyone has any ideas/experience?

Only ever tried to bring my bike into one hotel where they said I couldn't - and it was a Clarion Inn in West Virginia, so I don't know whyt they cared (I wasn't there for a race). Otherwise, I've never had a problem - I've brough it into nicer hotels than that Clarion, and at the smaller motels, like a Day's Inn, where you can jus walk up to your door, no one has ever stopped me. Worst comes to worst, take the front wheel off and put it in your car. Mine fits in the truck with part of the backseat folded down.

Thanks for the quick response. We'll end up taking my hubby's car so we can take off the wheel and throw the bike in. The bike doesn't fit into my car

I have never had a problem taking my bike into any hotel. I go by the policy of just bring it in and nobody should mess with you.

It appears the weather is going to be good on both days now so we can all be happy.  Good luck to everyone racing!  Dalessit and I will see you on Sat. if you're around.

I'm racing but Tony is just there for support.  It's too cold for him to put his face in the water. Sealed

Don't jinx it!

I will be the guy with the flats since I can't get my effn rim tape to stay in the middle of the rim.  Who decided nipple holes were a good idea anyway!

Well, took the wetsuit out the other day and soaked it for a bit. Tried it on this morning (still fits) and did the swim in it.
Now it's looking like an 80 degree day on Sat but the water is still looking like 59-60 degrees.

At least if we are frozen coming out of the water on Sat., we will warm up quickly in the sun!

I just bought a used wetsuit a few months ago is that something that should be done prior to a race (soaking it)? My wife is renting and we are going to pick it up today. We were going to swim in them tonight at the pool to make sure we dont die.

I'm going off DeSoto's advice for when you take the suit out of the closet for the first swim of the year. Soak it for a few minutes on each side the night before. So far by doing that, no rips and it doesn't cost anything to do so why not?

I guess the rented wetsuit should be good to go. I will go home at lunch and give mine a bath just in case. I agree I don't want any suprise ventilation. And tap water is cheap.
