Pre-race routine:

Haven't raced in a while and I wanted to give the ankle a chance. Wore ankle braces and I took 2 advils about an hour before.
Event warmup:

short light jog. It was pouring prerace.

Comments:

It rained for first mile and then stopped but course was covered in puddles. I haven't run much since Thanksgiving and my HR was high for my pace. Ankle pain got pretty tough by the end but it was tolerable. Not sure how much I can push the pain but I need to get my aerobic run fitness back.
Post race
Warm down:

waited for marcy as she was doing 10k.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

ankle and lack of training.

Event comments:

Despite really bad weather they did a good job. This race changed courses this year and added a 10k but they finally brought in professional timers and it helped alot. Check in was smooth and results were quick.

Only complaints were no mile markers and awards were a little lame. Marcy got 3rd in age group for the 10k.

Course: Started one block off the beach, out a mile then .5 mile back t beach road. Back on the beach road.

Great job, despite the ankle pain.  And congrats to Marcy too.

You guys were lucky -- it poured for our entire race.  Fortunately the after party was inside.
