Trying to decide on a mid-summer HIM.  Both Kansas and Buffalo Springs fit my schedule.  Anyone done either or heard pros and cons for either?

I haven't done Buffalo Springs, but I did do Kansas last year. It was a very well run race and I'm really looking forward to racing again this year. I think the BSLT course may be tougher, but the bike course at KS has a lot of hills and wind, too. Kansas probably won't be as hot as Texas, but last year there were tornadoes in the area that caused the race to end early, so there's always that to contend with

BSLT was my first last year, and I really enjoyed it.  You can get a preview (although the water may be colder) a month before by doing the Buffman and Squeeky oly.  I recommend it.  Both the oly and the 1/2 are fun races.   - no experience with Kansas - sorry

BSLT is well organized and the course is a good one with little traffic.  Last year was cool and rainy, but I've heard BSLT can be very hot.

You could go read race reports from each to see what other folks have said.
