Pre-race routine:

Good pasta and chicken supper at "Luigi's" in Regina with Terry and Rod. Up at 630 for coffee, bannana and pb on a bagel and more coffee and 1 bottle water to flush system.
Event warmup:

A litle stretching, a little comedy.
Run

Comments:

Sooo I know how Rod runs and let him go after a couple miles. Had to do this my own way otherwise I wouldn't enjoy it. Trained hard in the cold this year and it paid off. In a bit of a pickle at the 5 mile mark as I was overheating with the wind at my back. Then we climbed up onto the road and the open air worked wonders. Knew the cold would suck the life out of me, but as long as the legs/bod were good, I would get through it. 65 min out, 74 back, into the wind. The last mile was brutal as the snow was drifting off the lake and I couldn't run over then, had to run thru them!
What would you do differently?:

As I can pretty much say after every event, what would it feel like to run at 185 as opposed to 215?
Still a pb and felt the luv the whole way!
Post race
Warm down:

Chisled my stuff off and Terry brought me a coffee right away. Took some picks and then spent an hour meeting people, telling stories and drinking and eating.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Too much gooooo! And I probably didnt take in enough fluid early on, but so hard to guage that during the winter.

Event comments:

Volunteers were awsome, thanked them on the way out and loved them large on the way home. Food was good. Comradery and atmosphere was awsome. What else can you say when you and a hundred other people brave the elements and finish an adventure??

Who is this Terry you speak of? He sounds like a real Nancy-boy!

It was great to have you near. But not that near...Good run.

Way to go!! I hear that it's been colder than avg this winter out your way - takes a lot of toughness not just for the races but for training too!!

Okay, seriously. You ran a half mary in -37C, and lived to tell about it? You rock.

Congrats on the pb.

brutal.  Love it.  Great job.  Sounds like it was a there and back thingy with the wind in your face on the way back.  Brutal.  Awesome.
