Correct. Spec sheet says "39x53T, 172.5 mm" For the first time, I wish I knew what that means.

Well your BIG one in the front has 53 teeth and the inner is 39. Now you can play around with your cassette in the rear if you are finding that your gearing is too tough. Alot of people are VERY happy with compacts, unless you are masochists like Josh and Chile who put 59's on their tri bikes!

There is a good calculator:
http://sheldonbrown.com/gears/

That allows you to play around with cassette sizing to get similar gearing ratios. It really depends on WHAT you are going to be riding and how you are feeling with your current gear, as well as your riding style (spinner vs masher), etc.

For example:
A 50x34(compact) with a 11x23 cassette is about the same as a 53x39 with a 12x25. You can check that stuff out on Sheldon Brown's web site.

Check your rear cassette, see whats going on there too! :p

Chicks talking about bike components in such detail is HOT.

What I meant to say was, a 53X39 is that big thing with spikeys that you pedal round and round, you know, and your chain goes on, and stuff like that. :p

Maybe if I spent more time ON my bike and less time reading about the crap I could actually pull off the "knows bikes AND knows how to ride them." It's all in the plan though...one thing at a time.

But I'll take the HOT part for now...works for me.
