Safe route from Greenfield/Warner to Val vista/riggs

Every road that I've tried goes down to two lane no shoulder badly lit deathtraps. I'd love to be able to ride back and forth to the masters swim each week, but I like life too.

Any suggestions from someone more familiar with the area?
