What are your most motivation workouts?  Sport, place, distance, weather, intensity / speed, frequency (intervals?), friends or alone?

I have always found a Track distance workout with long intervals motivating.  Especially when done with others.  But, there is nothing quite like a fast, summer swim session in the pool!

hard, terrible hill climbs. Phil Ligget's voice is in my head. I don't want to hear him say I'm cracking.

I did a long brick (~50/50... long for me) the other day and felt great the whole way. That was super-motivation to realize that I'd covered the vast majority of a sprint tri without much struggle.

I don't really have one workout that is always an upper for me. Any workout I start can suck or be awesome. Even how I feel right before I start is no indicator. Luckily, I have far more awesome workouts than sucky one, so I'm able to stay pretty motivated.

Depends on what motivation means to you. To me, motivation is trying to catch up to that hottie in front of me so I can talk to her. Whether its a pool, bike, run, track, whatever...

My motivational workout is my Sat. morning ride.  It's my longest done with a group of really good cyclists from all over Columbus.  I work all week to get ready to stay up with them for 30-50 miles.  These are riders that focus almost solely on bicycling, so I try my best even though I'm "just" a beginning triathlete.

There's a winding country road out to the next town, about a 20 mile round trip. Not much traffic, a few decent hills, no mean dogs, well-paved, not too windy. Every few weeks while I'm training I go out on my own and ride that road as fast as I can, to see how much I've improved. It's always a great ride.

How true that is, and I can't see them coming either, good or bad. Biggest highs and lows are on the run, much less variation in the pool or in the saddle for me. A great run is a near religious experience.

Bricks calm me for some reason....the longer I go the calmer I get.

There's quite a bit of variety... long, hard, fast, with others, alone... doesn't seem to be limited to a single sport either.  Any others?

I forgot to mention loving the bike-to-run transition.  When your legs have been spinning so damn fast and then you swing your leg over your bike and hit the pavement!  That jolt wakes my body up.

I get the most enjoyment out of my Sunday morning off-road bicycling. Enjoyment keeps the training playful, which keeps me loose and motivated.

My favorite is all three right now. I'm a total newbie and have no where to go but up and working out as intelligently as possible has really helped in all three disciplines.

But I keep envisioning a long bike ride on a warm sunny Saturday morning to be something I've been looking forward to for some time now. Ah summer.

Ok, not that I want this kind of motivation daily or anything……. But I love a long hard run after a terrible day at the office. If I give in the temptation of just going home and cracking open a beer it never relieves the stress the way those long workouts can J
