Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: Workout/Regular Clothes That Can be Worn Again In my current (never-ending) quest for a semblance of organization in my life ... if this seems stupid, you've never seen my room or bathroom! What do you do with workout clothes you've worn just once (or twice), but can still be worn again? I certainly don't want to put them back with the "clean" clothes! And what do you do with regular clothes that can still be worn a time or two, but you don't want to put them back with the really clean clothes, either? Stuff that comes to mind is put a line up in my bathroom (I used a shower rod, but it kept collapsing, dumping all the clothes in the tub) Still not sure about the regular clothes. |

But I'll try to use the "re-wearable" ones right away again so they can go in the laundry. |

Master 1678 Olney, MD | Subject: RE: Workout/Regular Clothes That Can be Worn Again TriAya - 2009-03-11 9:07 AM I hang them up somewhere in my apartment. In the bathroom, on my bedroom door, on my mirror, on the towel rack. At most, I'll have a long sleeve & short sleeve dry fit and a pair of pants/shorts hanging before they get worn again or washed. What do you do with workout clothes you've worn just once (or twice), but can still be worn again? I certainly don't want to put them back with the "clean" clothes! And what do you do with regular clothes that can still be worn a time or two, but you don't want to put them back with the really clean clothes, either? Eh, I just put these back with the really clean clothes. If they're dirty enough to the point where I wouldn't want them with the really clean clothes, I'll just wash them. Jeans, for example, I'll wear them 3(ish) times before washing them. The slightly dirty jeans just go back on the shelf with the clean jeans |

Champion 11989 Philly 'burbs | Subject: RE: Workout/Regular Clothes That Can be Worn Again Don't you sweat? Most workout clothes I wear once before washing. Jammers can go a couple of times. Outer layer on cold days can go a couple of times depending. The only clothes that I wear more than once without washing are jeans. I used to have an end table kind of thing that served as my can-be-worn-again-but-not-really-clean spot but since moving in with my soon to be bride I am relegated to the floor.
I will now read all replies in this thread to see who to avoid in close quarters. |

I don't know why, but this made me laugh, and laugh, and laugh. I would totally ask you to be my wife, but you're kinda gimped right now. That is pretty close to the current system, except the sides of the floor do this weird melding thing and then the clothes reproduce. |

Extreme Veteran 604 Carrollton, Virginia | Subject: RE: Workout/Regular Clothes That Can be Worn Again I keep them in my gym bag. Or I throw them into my dirty laundry and if they are still there (un-washed) the next day that they are a usabe workout outfit.. i just put it on. My wife trains too, and I THINK she does the same. |

Master 1927 Guilford, CT | Subject: RE: Workout/Regular Clothes That Can be Worn Again Wife overtook our room so I have no clothes in there. All my clothes are in guest room. Closet = suits/sweaters/button down shirts Drawers = whatever I can fit in them The other 85% of the clothes make up the rest of the room. Clean ones on bed. Dirty ones in one corner. Dirty but dry clean only in another corner. Reusable across the other side. This is a small pile though, I'm a guy and probably sweat alot more than you. 100 pairs of unmatched socks in another corner. Then, if we have a guest I "clean" by just taking everything and shove them anywhere I can so that it's out of site until they leave. Then every two months I realize I have too many clothes and give a couple of garbage bag full to my brother in law. Then I buy more and repeat. |

Champion 10018 , Minnesota | Subject: RE: Workout/Regular Clothes That Can be Worn Again The only workout clothes I regularly wear again are my swimsuits. That I put on a hangar to dry and hang on my closet curtain rod, or in a freeish space if there's room for airflow. I sweat through everything else... On the rare occasion I have a jacket or something that I could wear again, I do the same. Once the stuff is dry, though, I put it back into the pile of to-be-work workout clothes. I have a few small drawers devoted entirely to workout stuff... For regular clothes to wear again, I fold them and put them in a small basket by my hamper. That way when wash day arrives, I can decide if I want to wear/wash. In the meantime, if I want something again, I will toss a few things into the dryer with a dryer sheet. This goes for jeans, sweaters that I don't want to overwash, and dress pants. But if I do a big batch in the dryer, I matriculate them back into the closet. Now, I really enjoy doing laundry so I have a pretty lower tolerance and wash most things after one wearing. I'm a pretty good wife ETA: we got a front loader washing machine which is fast, gentle, and uses very little water. So now laundry is EXTRA fun! Edited by BikerGrrrl 2009-03-11 8:40 AM |

Pro 5011 Twin Cities | Subject: RE: Workout/Regular Clothes That Can be Worn Again I have workout clothes spread from here to kingdom come. I'm lucky if I get as far as putting my CLEAN clothes away, let alone the semi-clean ones :-) I have a little storage locker thingie in my workout room at home where the clean stuff goes. Stuff "in process" is either A) hanging on a hook in the workout room (or on one of the bikes, or the weight bench or...) B) hanging on a hook in the shower C) lying in a ple on the floor of my bathroom (or hanging on a hook in the bathroom) or D) hanging on the coat rack in my office at work. (Or on the floor...or on one of my chairs...or drying on the heat vent...or...) I get a LOT of wear out of my clothes before washing. I also make sure to hop in the shower in my workout stuff base layer almost every time I wear it (the exception here being tights, jacket, hat, gloves, and long sleeves...). Seriously, I am a sweaty pig, but my jacket has been washed once this winter. The outer layer just doesn't get that dirty. As for regular clothes...when I'm doen wearing something, it hasd two options--laundry or back in the closet. I don't really fear cross contamination. Edited by mmrocker13 2009-03-11 8:50 AM |

Champion 7542 Albuquerque, New Mexico | Subject: RE: Workout/Regular Clothes That Can be Worn Again Jeans and other foldable clothes that aren't ready for the wash get folded and stacked on shelves in the top of my closet (when I'm good). Clean clothes are hung in the closet. The "reuse" shelves are dedicated for that, so truly clean clothes don't get put on there. I have one or two hooks I can hang a dress shirt on if needed. Workout clothes must hang, usually in the bathroom but also on the elliptical trainer (don't worry, I've used the elliptical enough as an exercise machine) until dry before they go in the laundry. I do re-wear workout clothes depending on how nasty they get the first time out. |

1072 | Subject: RE: Workout/Regular Clothes That Can be Worn Again I sweat a lot so none of my workout clothes are suitable to wear a second time. The exception may be the outer layer I use in cold weather. I hang that stuff on hooks in the garage, but even they need to be washed frequently. I put my workout clothes in the washer when I get home and wash them with other dirty clothes every day. I have a rack in the laundry room to let my clean workout clothes dry. I never put them in the dryer. When the clothes are dry I put them in the closet in the spare bedroom, that is just for my workout clothes. Doing the above keeps peace and harmony at home with the wife. She did complain a little when I used to leave my workout clothes all over the place after I wore them and she had to pick them up and wash them when she did the rest of the laundry. With a couple of workouts a day the clothes piled up. We reached an agreement, if I wore it, I washed it. |

Expert 675 Woodridge, IL | Subject: RE: Workout/Regular Clothes That Can be Worn Again We have a guest room - and I'm not sure why since we rarely have any actual guests that sleep over (save the occasional over-imbiber at summer BBQs). So, my new use for the guest room is to hang sweaty/wet clothes from the doorknobs and closet knobs and fold up my used once regular clothes and put them on the bench. It also helps that the room has basically turned into my laundry folding and ironing room though too... (As an aside, my office now houses my bicycle on the trainer since I stopped consulting and took a full-time gig I have no use for an office. But it has a TV so makes a perect room to ride in! Perhaps one day we'll decorate for function instead of form.) |

Expert 973 Berkeley, Calif. | Subject: RE: Workout/Regular Clothes That Can be Worn Again Wow! I had no idea so many people had these gray areas of "clean"! I'm pretty much a black-and-white (not literally) gal when it comes to clothes -- it's either clean enough to wear again, in which case it gets put with all the other clean clothes, or it's dirty and needs to be washed, in which case it goes with all the other dirty clothes. Done and done! |
