I generate way too much sweat to get any reuse out of my workout gear. In fact my wife "suggested" that I stop hanging my sweaty gear up to dry in the house, it needs to be outside.

I'd only reuse jeans and in those cases I just hang them over a chair in the bedroom.

Dirty workout clothes go on the floor in the bathroom, swim stuff goes on the towel rack in the bathroom. Sweat drenched workout clothes go on the curtainrod in the bathroom. The rest are in a constant cycle of being washed, dried throwin in a pile in my bedroom and then worn again. Yay for college apts.

I sweat a good amount during my workouts, so I generally will not reuse workout clothes...they go straight into the laundry bin.

As for regular clothes...I reuse a lot. Jeans, for example...can usually be worn twice without any problems of "funk" developing. I started this habit after doing many motorcycle trips, where I had to pack "light" and reuse clothing...especially jeans. I also reuse sweats frequently...since I don't use them to actually "sweat" in...I just lounge around in my sweats, so no problems there. Most of my reused clothing just gets draped over a chair until it's worn again. If it's something fancier, like a "funeral/wake outfit"...then I'll hang it back up in the closet.

Number of re-wearings depends if it's dry-clean only or not.

Clean clothes...in the drier...on the forth re-fluff right now

Dirty clothes, on the floor of the closet

Semi dirty work-out clothes, in gym bag

Semi dirty street clothes, no such thing...it ends up in the dirty clothes pile... shrug.

We hang barely worn clothes on hooks and wear them again. I normally wear a t-shirt to the gym over my workout clothes. On the way home I'm too hot to put it back on again. So I hang it back up and use it again at the house.

I finally have a great organization system for my clean workout clothes. First, I took over our daughters room when she moved out. A few weekends ago I went to Target and bought  plastic bins/containers.  Each container is divided by:swimsuits, jog bras, cycling shorts, running shorts, socks, misc. bike gear, hats/headbands.This system works great. Especially when I don't have a chance to layout my stuff the night before. It is easy to put clean clothes away too. I guess I could buy another bin for barely worn t-shirts!

Where do you put your nasty wet clothes after working out?

Mine go in the bathroom sink or tub until after my shower. Then they stay on the dryer (probably not the best choice) in a basket until wash day. If I leave them in a basket on the floor the dogs will take them out and run around the house with them.

If I wore something for a workout (except for swimming), I know it really isn't clean enough to wear again. Everytime I try to fool myself, I put the clothes on top of my dresser.  This weekend, for example, I went for an easy 14-15 ride.  I put the top on my dresser to wear again while it "aired out".  I went to put it on tonight, and immediately regretted that decision.

"Regular clothes" fall into two categories for me.  Work and relaxation.  Work shirts get worn once and put in the dirty clothes bag.  Pants get a couple of wearings, getting hung up in the closet in between.  Relaxation clothes get put back in the dresser as long as I didn't do anything active or spill something on them. Until my wife or daughter complains. But I figure if all I did was wear it for 2 hours and just sat around the house, it can't really be too dirty.

Daremo - 2009-03-11 6:08 PM I lay out my workout clothes on the tub and re-use them a lot ...... I know, nasty .... but I've gone 5 or 6 runs with the same pair of pants/tights. Money mouth

As always ... you are my hero.

But I have been thrilled by all the responses--so many ideas and ways of doing things--and ideas of "clean"

And if any of the rest of you want to report what you do, by all means, please!!!

I spent 4 months in the Saudi desert living in a big azz tent with 9 other guys and crapping in a cut down 55 gallon drum which - being one of the low men on the totum poll - I then had to pull out and burn with jet fuel every few days on latrine duty.  And we had to wash all our clothes by hand in buckets which meant we didn't get new clean outfits daily.

Running/riding in clothes that were sweat in a bit?  Not a big deal ........

Money mouth

I will rewear shirts - sometimes. Like the outermost layers in the winter. In the summer, not so much. Shorts - never. Sports bras - no. Tights - only I'm REALLY desperate and don't have any clean (I have way more shorts than tights - shorts are considerably cheaper). I rinse them out and hang dry them if I am not ready to do a load of laundry yet. But there have been a couple of instances where I have forgotten and it's 25 degrees outside...I try not to be gross, though. But I do rinse out stuff in the sink in between actual laundry loads to keep things fresher. Doing laundry all the time runs up the electricity and water bills. Triathlon is expensive enough!
