Pre-race routine:

Got there super early since it was Ryan's first race. I think there were 5 bikes in transition, of course one was already on my rack! Didn't set up transition until last second, so I could keep everything as dry as possible. I ended up running maybe a half mile and did a lap in the pool. Took a Gu about 15-20 minutes before I started.
Event warmup:

Above
Swim
  • 04m 31s
  • 300 meters
  • 01m 31s / 100 meters
Comments:

Can't complain about the swim. I think it was best performance on little training. After hitting the wall at the 100m mark one of the Rodney Strong swimmers tried to 'strong arm' me. We stayed together only to run into two other swimmers after hitting the 150-200 wall. (can't remember) Ended up swimming three wide with the arm the R. Strong guy was caught behind us. I pulled ahead of the other two guys and left the water with those 4 really close.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing breathing went from every three, bilateral, to every two when I was working hard. I was able to transition between the two well which made me happy. I guess I took the swim harder than I had planned.
Transition 1
  • 01m 41s
Comments:

lost one cap at the door out, but it was still there after the race. Put on arm warmers after thinking on it some Friday. Pretty slow but what are you gonna do, it was cold.
What would you do differently?:

Faster than the two guys that beat me so nothing much I guess.
Bike
  • 34m 51s
  • 12 miles
  • 20.66 mile/hr
Comments:

First time with my new aero helmet. I was only passed by one person Aaron, why did he pass me? 3:42 T1 I guess that would do it. I expected him to beat me but after seeing him I tried to keep him in my sights. I calculated I could give him 2 minutes. Good ride though faster the second lap after I knew how hard I go into the wet corners.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, go faster?
Transition 2
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

Really cold fingers made it hard to get my shoes on. I was glad to get the on and get on the course.
What would you do differently?:

Waited until today to race, better weather.
Run
  • 20m 20s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

I wish I was faster, and I expected to be. No doubt this is where I lost the race. Oh well, more work to do. I saw I was very close at the turn around to catching Aaron so that kept me pumping. People knew the girl right behind me, Ashley? I guess she ended up winning the overall for the ladies. I hate getting chicked, but she passed me and I couldn't hold on, oh well.
What would you do differently?:

Train more, go faster.

Event comments:

So old afterwords so know one really wanted to hang out. I didn't realized I placed until today, the next day. Maybe I can go pick up a medal next week sometime? So this is my first race report how did I do?
