I haven't logged anything on BT yet because it seems so clunky to me.  So much easier to just keep it in a spreadsheet imo.  I'm sure I'm missing something though.

That quote is pretty funny.

With ST...that site is no better or worse than this one.  At the end of the day its a common ground for Triathletes to congregate and blow smoke.  (Good or Bad) I read over there at times and find some of the stuff interesting and some to be garbage.

You can't behind your race number.  Eventually you have to put up or shut up.  Most people see right though the bs over there as well as over here.

Let your racing speek for you....

I enjoy both sites, though I frequent here more.

Plus some threads on ST can feel like you're banging your head against a wall.

jus' saying here, don't flame me, but logs can be padded.  only chip-timed results posted on a 3rd party website can be considered true.

Good point. I guess it's more accurate to say check race results. Gotta go and log my 400 mile run I did tonight..

Call me naive, but people pad their logs here?  wtf for?

i reverse pad... log nothing but do something,,, I know all the over 40 clydes are checking out what Im' doing.

ok not true... I"ve been a real slug for the past 3-4 weeks..

I was wondering the same thing.  Seems like a lot of trouble to go to ... for what? Now if you'll excuse me, my swim times amazingly have dropped 30s/100 over the past week, and I need to log that.  After all, I gotta be sure that everybody here gives me proper credit.

I guess I don't expect that anyone is going to be checking my logs except my friends, and they know how slow I am.

What is ST?  Have I missed another way to consume big chunks of my time that should be spent more productively (like training, working, tidying my sock drawer, etc.)?

And I agree with whoever said that there was nothing more pathetic than someone who was padding their online logs.  Speaking for myself, someone did kindly ask me about my swim training the day that I posted that I had swum 45 hours that morning.

Well, everyone on ST has over 400 watts for their FTP and can run 6 min/mile flat for a marathon.  It's true!!!  I read it over there all the time! Undecided

There are a lot of cross posters between the two sites.  Not sure why someone would "call out" BT in that fashion unless they've never actually been over here.

Both sites are entertaining and informative.

Edit: ST = Slowtwitch - a different multisport lifestyle site created by Slowman (a.k.a - Dan Empfield - one of the creators of Quintana Roo and the F.I.S.T. fitting program).  Caters to more of the faster athletes and you get a lot of pros that post their regularly.

ST is the letsrun of the triathlon world.

If they allow anonymous posting, it's even funnier.

ST does tend to be a bit more vicious than the kinder, gentler BT.

We're open and inviting...they are more cutthroat.

Just saw this and it made me smile.

"Buying a used bike from someone off the BT Forum is always a smart move. No chance of it being ridden very hard."

Virtual trash talking is very embarrassing for all parties involved.

This list is FAR from complete but some of the people I have seen flamed to their face on ST include:

Normann Stadler
Steve Larsen
Gary Hall, Sr.
Sister Madonna Buder

This list would actually go on for a while but I'm drawing a blank at just this moment...Point being, ST can be pretty dang combative.

Yeah, the gary hall, sr. thread about the liquid O2 et. al, was pretty funny. Everyone was "Cool, gary hall!" for about 20 posts, then he got lit up like a roman candle on July 4. Went about 7 or 8 pages IIRC.

what if I let people know who I am (John Nelson, last male to finish the 2006 Great Illini Half Ironman) they will find out I am not a MOPer but a BOPer! Really, I have gone undefeated in a IOC sport and have obviously held down the DFL spot. First only gets you false friends that only want to beat you (ie see you fail) vs BOP gets you friends that truly want to see you succeed. I will take BOP for the rest of my life.

If I ever come across anyone struggling on a course I would rather be the guy that invites the other to race side by side for a while, then the one that yells get out of the f@#$ way.
