Swim
Comments: I started right at the front, in the middle. I was determined to draft on some speedy swimmers. I guess it worked, because I did a lot better than I thought. Based on how I felt during the swim, I expected a time of 30 minutes. I was shocked when I looked at my watch while running to T1. I tried to concentrate on good catches and long, slow strokes. I sprinted the last 200m. Other than that, it was a very relaxed swim. What would you do differently?: I think this was about as good as I could have done. If I pushed any harder it would have messed with the rest of my day. Transition 1
Comments: T1 was fast. I took off my own wetsuit and geared up pretty fast. Some B set up her transition area JUST before the start. She pushed all the bikes over and set up her FULL-SIZED towel under my bike and left her bag on top of my towel. WTF! I kicked her sh-t out the way and got my shoes on. Bike
Comments: Freaking slow bike leg. Lots of folks passed me on this leg. I rode up some of the longer hills with a nice guy named Boyd. I told him about BT. :P The hills were really daunting, and quite a challenge, but I think I held back too much. I was constantly worried about blowing up, so took it easy. If I rode the course more, I think I'd be more confident to power up some of those hills. What would you do differently?: Ride the course a few times before the race. Transition 2
Comments: Super fast transition. I am pleased with this one. I even had time to take off one sock and clear a few rocks. Run
Comments: Holy f-cking hills, Batman. This 10k is silly! It was either shuffling or bone-jarring, flying downhill. I said "Good job" to every person I saw. The winner was super nice. Then 6 people didn't talk to me. Then Dan Cadreil said hi. I asked if we could switch numbers, he laughed. I saw motomort, Ryan. He yelled out. It was getting really hot and windy at this point, and I was dreaming of water stations. It was all I could do to keep running. I saw one guy ahead at the end and decided to pass him. I did and sprinted the last mile. He was the only person I passed. I'll take it. Dustin was at the finish line. He brought me some water and we talked about his first tri. Way to go, Dustin. What would you do differently?: Train on hills and bring a camera for this run. The views were amazing. Post race

Banana, peanut butter and honey (only ate half) coffee and water. Left the house at 5:30, got to the race around 6:40.
Swam about 50 meters, pulled water into my suit, stretching out the torso.
