rjray - 2009-04-07 8:31 PM So far:

Motor City Tri - Sprint - June 14th
Kensington / Rudy Project - Sprint - June 28th
Grand Marias - Sprint - Sep. 6th (Possibly)

Really wanted to do Hawk Island, but remembered before registering, it's my first wedding anniversary -- don't think that would pass Tongue out

I know you. WELCOME ROB!!

You have to pick one that we can do together.  I always want good scenery in front of me on the run.

You are such a dirty young lady...but, I second that Rob!  Pick one we'll be at so we can *enjoy the scenery on the run*

Grand Marias is an interesting race.  Have you done it before?

Matt - no, but a friend read about it and we're thinking of making a camping trip out of it. Seeing that the swim is in Superior, I'm sure I'll have an awesome time! Trish & Jo - too kind! Although as I'm learning, it seems us Clyde's go out in later waves, so I think it'll have to wait until the hospitality tent!

Brickey and I both did it last year.  Its a very small race, but I loved it.  First, my folks have a place in GM.  I have been going there since I was about 8 or 9 years old.  I love the peace and quiet of GM.  I could easily live up there.

The race had about 150 people or so.  It was all women, then all men start.  The water was not really too cold.  I wore a wetsuit, but it was such a short swim, its really not necessary.  You then run up the stairs, directly into t-area, then you get to ride one of the most beautiful bike courses that I have ridden in a race.  The run is a simple out and back without any significant elevation.

It has a cool hometown feel to it.  The price was something rediculous like $20, and that included a tshirt!  Ask brickey about the prizes.  They are .... unique.

This is not a huge race with great schwag and all the coolest bikes and gear.  It is a small event in a beautiful part of the state.  GM has an incredible calming effect on me.  I absolutely love it up there.

Trust me, even if you go out after me, you'll catch up and pass me.  Scenery is one advantage to being slow.  I didn't want too embarrass you too much but I need to announce:

MICHIGAN LADIES:   EYE CANDY ALERT!!!!!!!

Are we talking the camera with the "special" lens type of alert?

You know you love all the attention.  BT hazing at its best.  You rocked at swimming tonight.  Who knew that you were that fast?

You are going to do great at tri's. Hopefully a couple of those will be with the BT Michigan Rawk Squad!

RAWK Squad?  We'll see how Motor City goes; my real only concerns are finishing the swim strong and not fading during the run.

On a training-realted note:  Do any of you do combinded training, i.e. riding a bike and then immediately go run on a treadmill or outside?  I would assume that is the best way to train...

I don't know why I'm being nice to you after you kicked my butt in the pool, but yes...that is called a brick.  Most bricks are bike to run, but if you can try a couple swim to bike when it warms up, that would be good too.  If you are following a plan they will have brick's built in.  I try and rest in between if the plan doesn't call for a brick, but sometimes time won't allow for it!  Hope this helps whippersnapper! There is a Comfort Inn in Davison or there is a couple hotels in Lapeer. You could also camp in the Metamora/Hadley State Park in Metamora that is just a couple miles from Big Fish.
