Pre-race routine:

Got up about 5 a.m. ate my normal PB bagel and banana. Stopped at Kwik Trip for a large coffee. Actually felt great that morning. Got a good nights sleep for once and was ready for the run. Drove to Waukesha and made it just in time to give a big EEEAAAAWWWW shout out to Phil, who was running the marathon. Headed in to register and chatted for a bit with some of the Donks..Craig and the kiddos...Morey, Jim Webs, Pete, Scott, Clint, Terri and kids. Then headed outside for a warmup.
Event warmup:

1/2 mile jog to warmup.
Run
  • 2h 07m 44s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 45s  min/mile
Comments:

At first I was disappointed about not hitting my goal time of sub 2 but after thinking of all that I have had on my plate lately...I decided to be happy with my PR. Mentally I was not really ready to run but needed it more than anything. After all...its just another training day for the big race in September!!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing I guess!
Post race
Warm down:

Stretching and water. They had free beer....but...yes Davey..I actually passed on the free beer!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mental preparation

Event comments:

Thanks Craig for pushing me to train despite all that is going on. A huge thank you for your continued support and confidence in me. And a huge thank you to BT and the Donks for all your support and inspires as Craig goes through this challenging time.
FYI Craig...I still hate that bullhorn! ;)

Awesome job Amy! I think it is good to get out there, with everything going on.  As much as I hate to say it though, I'm a big fan of the bullhorn.   Great to see you!

Nice work Ames! Why would you EVER be sad about a PR? I just realized that we're finally in the same AG for tris. I must be getting old.
