I'm considering the two of these races this year, but I'm not sure that I'll be able to do both.  If it matters at all I prefer oly races, but will also do sprints.  Maybe I'll do the sprint at one and the oly at the other, I don't know yet.  Anyways, for those who have done both, which do you prefer?  If I was only to pick one oly race to enter, which would you choose?

Thanks for the help!

They are very similar ,  along the same stretch of the ventura coast .   I am planning on doing Strawberry  in July

purely because i will be out of town  for  Breath .

Both have sprint and olympic distance option and  truly  pancake flat courses ,  Perfect  with a Tri bike

The run on the beach at Breath is quite  long   and  will add  2 min  to your time.

Strawberry has Clydesdale and Athena divisions

I've only done SF sprint, but I would choose BoL over SF if only because the SF bike course looks like it has at least 4 180 degree turns on it.

Don't recall any beach section of the run at BOL Oly last June...I actually beat my existing open 10K PR with my run there (hadn't done a 10K in a while, though).

Definitely a very fast course...it's my Oly PR. My wife and I are doing BOL Oly again this year...last race before my first IM/her first HIM on Aug. 1.

Todd  you really dont remember the rather long  beach run  from the water to  T1  .

Both are  indeed a very fast courses .

Biggest problem with BoL is the tease at the run turnaround... I don't like running towards the finish banner only to be told I am only half the way there..

LA triathlon is the same ,  two loops with a tantalizing swing by the finish line about halfway through the run .

The Best Olympic  course i have done  is Carpinteria .

Both courses loop with almost no repeating scenery.

Not super crowded either.    (thumbs up  ask  waterdog)

I've heard that about Carpinteria, but still haven't made it up there.

Sign ups still open , anyone doing  Breath of life  or   Strawberry ?

I am now leaning towards   Breath of Life  Olympic   as   Strawberry is the same weekend as a fun Local race  in Castaic Lake.    Tons of local runners do it so its a blast  .

My wife and I are both in for the Oly at BOL.  (It's the USAT Southwest Region qualifier for Age Group Nationals this year, btw.)
