I see there are a few of us doing the Du Nationals! Any  last minute thoughts? Where are you coming from? Im from Wisconsin...doing the On Road Age Group Nats. (not a du specialist by any stretch of the definition...just have done a few, with ALOT more tris!!) Im pretty excited about the course, and the whole weekends events!

I'm competing on Saturday in the Off Road event.  I'm looking forward to the revised run which is a true off road run as compared to last year's race.  The trails in JRP are great, love riding/racing them.

Haven't decided whether I'm stayin in richmond the night before the race or driving to the race that morning, I live about 2 hours away.

If you're competing on Sunday and are in town on Saturday, come out and cheer on us who are ridin' dirty....

I'm getting in Saturday to pick up my packet and all that and then racing in the road nationals on Sunday.  10:30 start.  Other than Boston, that is probably the latest I'll start an event!  I've got a hotel room in the city for Saturday night (even though I'm really just a little 2 hours away driving).

Not going into it with any expectations and haven't really trained specifically for the race.  But I'm hoping that I'll put up a decent time and depending on who shows up, maybe get a World's slot.  But really just looking to gage the fitness and have some fun!!

I'm doing the Sport Distance race on Sunday. I live in Richmond, so I'll be coming from the west side of the city.

It's a fun weekend.  I didn't go last year (raining a lot), but went the year before and really enjoyed spectating.

Are we looking at the same wave times?  Which one starts at 1030 on Sunday?  Or are you in the off-road that starts at 1030 on Sat?

I am also heading down there from Boston; flying sat AM and getting back sun night. I am staying near the start with by biz partner and some friends. I guess I am starting at 10:50AM for the on road race (just saw Rick's post) so pretty much I'll race, eat, pack, and get ms a$$ to the airport! I am using the race as a test as to how my fitness is coming along, so more of a fun event if there is such a thing as a 'fun' duathlon!

Im flying in Friday, and will definitely check out the guys getting dirty on Saturday! I had a GREAT thing happen yesterday, my coach from last year hooked me up with one of his clients who is driving to Nats. He is going to take my bike with him!! How cool is that!? No shipping, assembly issues etc! What a great guy, to do this for me, and he doesn't even know me!

I look forward to seeing you all there!!

This will be my first Duathlon, "duing" the On-Road on Sunday. Only been doing Tris since late 2006 and since I live relatively close (Middle Maryland), I thought why not? I'm not going with any real expectations, but will just be enjoying being in a National Championship, something I probably wouldn't get to do otherwise being an average Age Grouper. So, I'm pretty much going to be enjoying the moment. Though I "enjoy" the swim, I'm thinking that transitions here will be a bit easier without having to worry about a wetsuit and putting on socks for the run. So, that will be something different. I'm staying at one of the hotels outside of Richmond near the airport. Couldn't see paying so much to stay in town, though it would make getting to the transition area easier. Anyway, good luck and enjoy!

The place I got was only like $60 and is around 4 or 5 miles from the race site.

Yeah, I saw places like that but nearly all the the reviews of the inexpensive places close to town were pretty bad. Hopefully, you found one that I didn't look at and it's a good experience for you. The reviews where I'm staying were all positive and I'm only 15 miles away. Granted it's only 1 night, but don't need the room/hotel to be a hassle the day before a big event.

I've slept in a frickin' moldy canvas tent on a cot in the middle of the Saudi desert for 4 months (and that was one of the cushier places I've stayed in my life!!) while in the Army.  There are very few places I wouldn't spend the night that had a real bed in it. Money mouth

anyone want to post their full name and age group? I would love to hook up and meet some other BTers. That way, we can check the roster and know where everyone is racked and their number!

Rick Carter  On Road 35-39.

I usually try to wear my BT teeshirt the day before races (I'll be wearing Team Gu stuff the day of).

Early projections are for chance of some rain, but close to 80-ish.

They are going 12 deep in each age group with a roll down to 15th place if needed.  A lot of people should have a shot at it!  At least I'm hoping that is the case.

Nice to know some people will still be around while I am racing!  Yeah!  I'll be down before my race starts, so I'll be doing the same.

Planning on going to packet pickup Saturday afternoon, although I have no idea what I'll be wearing.
