Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:30, already had everything packed, ate normal breakfast, 2 ww waffles, greek yogurt w/honey, tea with milk. Drove 1.5 hrs, got to the site at 7:00 AM set up transition, hydrated, ate a banana.
Event warmup:

Half mile slow run.
Run
  • 29m 26s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

I always seem to hold back during multi-sport events, but decided to push my limits a bit with this race sice it did not have a second run segment, not my fastest 5K but very close. Big hill at end, how mean!
What would you do differently?:

Nada, train more get faster...
Transition 1
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

Short distance in transition area, things went fine, had a drink and was on my way.
What would you do differently?:

Nada
Bike
  • 40m 25s
  • 11 miles
  • 16.33 mile/hr
Comments:

It was s nice course, well marked, with hills that were rolling and not too hard to negotiate. I passed a bunch of folks on the bike part so I know I am getting stronger in this area. I averaged 2 MPG faster on this race than the last one, of course it was a shorter ride and a bit less hilly.
What would you do differently?:

More training, get faster
Post race
Warm down:

Short slow ride, shaking out, walking around

What limited your ability to perform faster:

training, age, not having discovered the fountain of youth yet...

Event comments:

This race is part of a series of three progressivly harder races, I will absolutly do the next two, this one was well done and a lot of fun.

And 2 miles per gallon better on the bike! Wow - those waffles must have paid off!

Hopefully I will be feeling better for the next one and we can car pool.
