So I got my a$$ out of bed at 5:30 and went to my first Master's swim this morning.  Once I was in the pool (a cold pool) and got a few laps in I was plenty awake.  They did a lot of pull and kick sets and apparently you have to bring your own paddles, fins, and bouy (I don't have any yet) so I had to do most everything freestyle...which meant I couldn't keep up on many of the sets.  It was still a good workout though.  I ordered zoomers and paddles last week so I should have that gear soon.  It will definitely take me some time to be able to keep up though...my arms were pretty beat y the end of the session.  I never go that hard when I swim on my own so I figure doing this once a week will be good for me.  I can use my other 2 swims each week to concentrate more on form and take it easier.  I'm going to make this a regular Wednesday workout.  Details of the workout are in my log if anyone is interested.

I can't keep up with most of the group either. Our new coach splits us into 2 groups which helps.

CONGRATS!!!  There is nothing like swimming with a group to get you to do things you never thought you could

Nice thing was that it is a small group so we had 2 per lane at most...I had a lane to myself.

I loved Masters Swimming when I did it.  Yeah, it definitely wakes you up.  Super conditioning!  I also found myself eating large breakfasts afterwards and catching a cat nap on the way home in the afternoon carpool.  They really work you.  My morning work schedule doesn't make room for it now.  Good luck with it.
