Pre-race routine:

drank 1/2 bottle gatorade and banana before race - 500ml water
bit of warm up but standing in gate for 30 min. Tossed warmup shirt to side before race-good idea for salvation Army.

Comments:

Only drank once around 6km or so, no need for more. Was too hot, wore shorts and tights and 2 shirts. go with just on shirt unless really cold.

Lack of training biggest factor - get the weight down next year and go faster.

Course: Was bib number 1000 - started with yellow group, in mid pack for the corral, we crossed the start line within a few minutes of the start. went out hard for the first few kms passed a bunch, but then got into a prety similar paced group. much easier at front of pack, less fighting for position and passing. half way through the race, more people were passing me, but with HR so high, i figured i could not go much faster.
