We've all been there. you learn not to catch yourelf. Mama bear broke her arm doing just that, about 20 miles into a metric century IIRC. She went on to finish.

You say" WICKED pain in my head..." If you landed on your head you may want to check/replace that helmet. They're not made to sustain multiple impacts.

Congratulations!  It took me 2 years to join that club, but I renewed my membership last night.

I'm with Bear.  Helmets are good for one fall/drop.  Look very closely for signs of compression as well as cracking.

Glad you're not hurt (much). You know you jinxed yourself when you said that you hadn't fallen over. Wink

When I bought my clipless pedals, the guy at the bike shop told me that I'd probably fall over with them. I pooh-poohed that. Silly. Maybe other people do that, but I don't. Ha! Very first ride, I carried the bike down the front steps, got ready, clipped one foot in, pushed off and tipped over. Didn't take 3 seconds. Bless my hubby for asking if I was okay before he snickered a little. Fortunately I tipped over onto the lawn so no damage.

I've only managed so far to clipless-pitch-over on the road once. It was related to a hill, a side-hill, and intersection and starting out in too big a gear. The pedals were just icing on that cake.

well thanks a lot. Now I just re upped my membership tonight. Pulled up to a stop with a Jeep in front of me. I unclipped all was good until the Jeep in front of me started to roll back. I instinctively leaned to the right to keep him from rolling back into my wheel and hey, guess what, the right foot was still clipped in. Over I went. The worst part was the two teen age girls standing on the sidewalk trying really hard not to laugh at me.

I just joined myself about a week ago.  45km into a ride, I stop at a stop light and unclip my left foot.  Of course, without thinking, I lean to the right when I come to a stop.

I managed to get my foot out just as I was falling and did a nice "foot slide" across the sidewalk.  Feels good to do that in public.
