Subject: Santa Barbara Long Course - Official Thread
Just signed up for this low key, local race.  If you've done Olys but don't feel quite ready for a full HIM, this is the race for you (1/34/10).

Done it the last two years, they don't make you stop (well I didn't have to stop, nor did anyone else around me).  It's a police controlled intersection at the bottom of a long downhill, you have to slow way down anyway.

There is one sketchy area of road you have to be careful on, this is where Barbara Warren (of Tom Warren)  went down last year and unfortunately passed away 

It really is a great race, I think you'd destroy it......

eep - i just forked over the dough and registered.  i will have only a sprint tri under my belt before this undertaking and just clicking the submit button on my registration kinda made me wet my pants a little.  :P 

time to up the training a bit for the next month or two.

Congrats!!   Do yourself a favor, train some hills on the bike...  and a little on the run too

i'm probably ok on the run - i do most of my training in/around the santa monica mountains.  thanks for the bike tips, too. 

the open water 1 mile swim, however .... terrified.  :P

My apologies for not being clear.
The 8am on Sun at Manhatten Beach is their 1 mile swim and the 11am on Sun at Redondo Beach (Veterans Park) is a 1/4 ish mile swim X 2.
