Subject: Race Day Packet Pickup
The letter to DSU has me wondering why race day packet pickup isn't an option for all triathlons.  Really all they do is provide the race number.  Why exactly can that not be done race day morning?  Packet pickup is really just a nuisance.

Here in East Texas, it's almost always an option.  Jefferson, Four States, Rose City = all race day morning.  But I also understand that we are alot more spread out than the metroplex.  An hour plus travel is almost always required.

I have a feeling it might be due to single day USAT licenses.  Any ideas?

Maybe becasue of sponsorship...if rbm sponsors the event I imagine it's a big plus to ensure that all participants will have to stroll through their doors in order to take part in the race...just thinking out loud...

I understand them not doing it race-day for the large races(like CapTex) as it would be a logistical nightmare. But for a local sprint that has 300 people, I would think it should be manageable. You can do it at most running events, and they've got a lot of the same logistics(aid stations, chip check-in, etc.).

If packet pickup was anything like today, a race with race-day pickup would never start.  I waited 35 minutes in line today for a packet.  I have never seen one so poorly organized.  Almost nothing was assembled ahead of time!
