Subject: Jorge's winter training plan vs The Angry Pit Bull
Well today was my first time on my road bike since the end of March.  At that time I was following Jorge's winter biking plan.  Throw in a knee scope and next thing it's 6 weeks later.

I went for a 8.5 mile ride and was just under 2 miles in when the pit bull came running.  No worries, he is going to stop at his yard, just keep the steady cadenace up.  Well he came though the ditch, across the road and got to my bike tire.....not a friendly dog.

I dropped a gear and started hauling A$$.  He chased for a .25 mile or so then gave up.  I rode another 2 miles to the store and stopped to call the police.  She was nice took the report and went to the owners house.  I explained I was fast enough, but some child would not be.  I felt like a wuss, calling but again I imagined my 8 year old getting chased and not being to outrun the dog.

Now hows this relate to Jorge....I learned cadence controll from his plan...plus was able to knock 6 minutes off the same course from last year.

Joe

You weren't a wuss, glad you called the cops.  Hopefully the owner will do something about it.

You werent's a wuss. If that dog had gotten you from the side or something, you would have gone down... hard.

Did you try spraying water on the dog to see if that would distract him? That can work sometimes.

I let him get to close, so not time for water, just pedal faster.

Glad to hear the plan helped so much -- even saved you from a potential dog bite!  I wasn't consistent enough with it this past winter -- looking forward to trying again next winter.

Also glad you called the doggie cops.

Just get all of your neighbors to randomly release dogs and you've got a interval training plan built in!
