Okay, since this is first race of the season for me, my coach has me training right up to race day. Looking for anyone else that is as crazy as me, or that wants to do a group traininig ride/swim/run, here's my schedule for when I'm in town. Likewise, if anyone knows any good bike routes/run routes in the area, definitely would appreciate the tips!

Thursday: arrival day, rest!

Friday:
-30 minute open water swim ( morning )
-2 hour bike ( zone1 / easy ) ( mid-day )

Saturday:
-30 minute open water swim ( morning )
-Brick ( 30 min bike/10 min run ) ( mid-day )

Sunday:
-Let's get it on!
-Post-race party!

Monday:
-Departure ( how sad! )

So, any takers for Friday or Saturday group training?

-Chris

Chris, I don't know if you have access to a car but if you do, you might want to take a 20 minute drive to Fort DeSoto for your OW swim and biking. Aside from being beautiful (rated #1 beach in continental US), it has a dedicated bike/walk path that loops about 20 miles. LOTS of room for your OW swim too.

I might be up for an OW swim and ride on Saturday. I'm SLOW so don't expect me to keep up.

I also have room on my roof rack for another bike + can obtain use of a trunk rack for a max of 4 bikes, if we had a small group interested in going.

I will have a car ( rental ford escape ), so this is definitely an option. I'm staying at the Alden ( not too far from the venue ). Thanks for the tip!

Could probably fit people in my car, if Renee can fit the bikes, if there are others interested but lacking in transportation. And you're not slow, I've seen your logs.

I'm not out going for super speed/distance on the swims, just that it's more fun with a group than alone.

Sorry Chris...I PM'd you before I saw this thread.  I'm a definite for the swims.  I'm not sure about the bike or runs yet since I don't want to strand wifey for too long.  Hopefully, the swim venue will be marked and open on Friday.

Bring wifey. She'll LOVE this beach (if she likes beaches at all). This is a park, so no high rises, restaurants, noise, little traffic. Tell her to bring a book, sunscreen, and a beach blanket.

Hey Chris -
count me in for the Friday swim... what time? I plan on swimming at 10am on Saturday morning at the Pier. I think I'll take it easy with the bike and run until race day.

I'd like to go with you guys, except I'm not sure if TNT is doing any group swims/rides/runs. If I can go where will you guys be meeting?

Friday, let's meet at the park, Ft. Desoto. Renee, got a place to suggest meeting, since you've actually *been* to the place before?

Saturday, it sounds like maybe the swim course is open? So maybe that we'll do at the venue. I don't think we've decided yet.

When you get into the park, you will eventually have to turn left or right. Turn right. A little further on your left will be a turn to go to the pier, turn here and park near the fort. Meet in front of the fort; it has large black cannons, you can't miss it.

Here's a diagram of the park: http://www.pinellascounty.org/park/maps/color/amenities/FORTDESOTO.pdf

The fort is at the bottom left corner of the diagram.
