Master  1989     New Jersey |  Subject: Lake Placid IronmanCan you believe I'm possibly going? Well, not to actually do it, but my son has a Boy Scout camping trip up near there which ends the day before the race. So, I was thinking why not head up there to either help out on the trip, or pick him up, or whatever, and hang out for an extra day and volunteer. Now THAT would get me pumped for my own little triathlon world. |

Expert 1164 New Port Richey | Subject: RE: Lake Placid Ironman I was looking into volunteeing to. I am deffinately heading up there to be a spectator. Next year I plan to do an Ironman but I am leaning towards Florida because it is later in the season and hell of a lot flatter. If you or any BT goes let me know. It would be nice to meet some of you. |

I voluteered for an Ironman, and it got me motivated to prepare for my own race. An Ironman is more then a race, it is a true event, with music and food and people everywhere. Have fun and cheer loud. |

| , Alabama | Subject: RE: Lake Placid Ironman Last year I did long-distance worlds in Spain (~ 3/4 IM distance) and my sister went with me. She had the best time because she went to all the events with me and volunteered at the race. Not only did she get to be a part of it all, but they gave her a volunteer sweatshirt (it was cold in the morning), t-shirt and hat, so she got some nice souvenirs of the experience as well. Not only that, but OLN aired highlights of that race and she was in the background of one part since she worked the transition area (I certainly wasn't shown...they only televise the elite athletes and I'm just a regular age grouper Sharon |
