I intend to swim this Saturday early morning wright at T1 at Clinton lake, entry at north boat ramp, exit at south boat ramp. If anyone has done this here or is knowledgable of the place, can you share some thoughts. I hope I will not get arrested or cought in fish lines. Any other known or suspected hazards that I should know. Thanks.

There are swimming beaches at Clinton Lake... I'd suggest swimming from one of those.
Here is a nice map outlining everything at the lake: http://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/cl/brochure/clinton_lake.pdf

Thanks, got it. I looked at the map and found it. Ryan cautioned me about the T1 area so I will move to the beach.

Be prepared for huge crowds out at the lake this weekend, especially in the State Park.  They (campers) have already been coming into town in masses.

I will be swimming while they are asleep, but they will get a view of me running through their camp ground later after the bike. The site does show that all the camp spots have been sold out. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Also, just a heads up. We had a Kansas 70.3 athlete out for his "long swim" on Clinton Lake near the State Park.  He went missing and several resources from Dept. of Parks and Wildlife, Lawrence Fire, DGCO Sheriff's, Lawrence PD and a Kansas Highway Patrol helicopter were all called in to find this guy.  If you stray to far from the beach without an escort, be aware that State Park officers aren't to hip to OW swimmers right now.  Good news, we found the swimmer safe and sound.  He was just a little behind schedule to meet his ride.  Wildlife and Parks will be on the water this weekend with this incident fresh on their mind.

Thanks. I will stay within the beach constraints. I can just practice my flip turns in ow. I will be alone so I will not venture very far of the shore. No need. But it will not be a "long swim" either, just 30min. Hopefully I will be in and out before anyone knows it. I will be there early.
