I cannot believe how anxious I am  - and the cooler weather thing has me nervous about the bike - packing EVERYTHING.

If Ben's championship game is canceled today I might drive down and swim in Long Pond for a few and get my packet...waiting to see if Brookline reopens the fields.....

Looks like I am racing, at least the run portion.   We will see if I do better with no prep at all.  This should be interesting.

Dangit Beth, I look like a whale in those pics.  Oh, wait, that isn't your fault.  My bad.  Thanks, it was fun to look at the pics and Bryan liked finally seeing faces to people I have been talking about for awhile!

Hey folks,

Thanks again to all of you who raced this year's Patriot. I've read through the race reports/reviews and wanted to touch on two things. It seems several people indicated the event didn't run on time (12 votes say it was on time and 7 say it wasn't). I'm surprised to see this as the race started exactly at 7AM as scheduled. We approximated the awards ceremony starting at 1:30PM and doing giveaways at 2:30PM. We ended up doing awards at 1:35PM or 1:40PM and the giveaways were done promptly at 2:30PM. What am I missing?

As for the lack of pomp and circumstance at the finish... this will most definitely be addressed next year. We couldn't get enough extra power to the finish for the DJ to set-up there this year... this was not an issue in the past, but it was a new DJ this year. Lesson learned. We will rent a generator next year if necessary to provide more power.

Fyi, we actually debated having the band at the finish this year, but decided against it due to some logistical issues that doing so would create... maybe next we make that change.

The cassette rings that made up the finisher medals were chosen as part of our effort to green the event. They were all collected from Landry's Bicycles shops and cleaned to offer an alternative to medals manufactured elsewhere. In other words, they were recycled and they were local.

You are the first person I've heard not like them. Many racers raved about them. We'll be sending a post event survey to all racers so that will provide the most accurate picture of how well they were liked -- or not. If the consensus is they were well liked we will most likely stick with them.

I think the finisher medals are great! I like bike parts and thought it was very clever.

Socks and tech shirts are super as well.

Mark thanks for listening to our thoughts. I know you and Eric want to make the experience good for all the racers. My biggest suggestion to not offend the locals is to get port a potties on bike and run.

Mark, I bet my husband would volunteer to help do finish line announcing if you'd like some help there next year. He was a DJ in college both on college station and regular radio station, has a great voice for that. He has been to lots and lots of triathlons over last 6 years.

Thanks for the feedback, Kathy. Port-o-potties on the course is also going on the list for next year. I will let you know if we have a need for an announcer at the finish. In addition to the technical difficulties at the finish I've described, the DJ we used this year was a replacement for our normal "talent". Next year we hope to have our regular guy back.
