This will be my first Olympic distance. Anyone have comments on course description? Hilly? I have only done Marlboro and Ludlow, so this wll be a big jump up in terms of distance for me. Thanks in advance for any comments.

Is there a link to the race report? I'm new to BT and can't seem to find it using search.

I'm doing Ashland on sunday and want to know what i've gotten myself into.

Thanks
Joe

There are - goto Races and pull up Ashland Lions and there are two from 2008 and I believe one from 2007.

One thing I noticed is that you should bring separate shoes to run from the water to T1, as its about 1/2 mile across trails and field.

The course sounds hilly too.

I have actually pulled from the race, as I am in Asia on the 4th day of what seems to be the worst food poisoning in my life.  Down 15lbs in 4 days.  Once I return to US I am checking into a hospital.  While 102/103 fever has broken, I can't keep anything in my body.

RD was super nice about helping me out

Thanks! just read the accounts! Looks like I'm in for a good time!

I looked at the profile they have on map my ride, maybe it's my NH training, but it doesn't seem that hilly... Have to see how reality compares.

103 temp and losing 15lbs in a week! get better!

I am not doing the race but I live about 1.5 miles from the Ashland State Park. I ride the course all the time. It's not too hilly at all. There's one good size hill coming up Main in Ashland but that's it. A good portion of the race is on quite residential streets, which is nice.
You definitely want to put a pair of sneakers (crappy) on the beach for your run to transition. Typically events at Ashland set their transitions up on the state park side but this one is on the side where the Warren Center is, which is much more woodsy.
Good luck.

Oh and jdorsh, get well man.

Thanks for the wishes...actually feeling much better.  Trick was a phone call to my mom who suggested getting some probiotic bacteria in my system (yogurt) and some bananas to firm things up and electrolytes (tough to find in the middle of Asia).  On my way back after a tough week and now need to regain the muscle I lost and get ready for Webster.

Might not be a Clydesdale anymore, haha...my guess is most of the weight loss was muscle and water.

FYI, anyone doing this race, I was down at the reservoir today and the water is pretty warm. There were several people swimming it without wet suits.
