Subject: Need doctor or PT recommendations
Hi everyone. I was hoping someone would have a good recommendation for either a sports injury doctor or a physical therapist in Baltimore City/County (preferably one who runs and won't tell me to stop running). I have been battling achilles tendonitis all spring and now it appears I'm having a bad flare up of posterior tibial tendonitis in the same foot. It's gotten so bad over the last week that I was limping this weekend.  Marathon training was supposed to begin this week

This begs another question: who exactly do I see for this? A doctor or a PT??

I would see a doctor first--PTs really aren't qualified to diagnose anything--just treat once a diagnosis is made.

I'd try the University of Maryland sports medicine folks. They seem highly regarded and have a lot of resources for PT, etc.

What, DrPete? You won't treat us BTers for free?

To the OP: I'm seeing Dr. Dreese next week http://www.umm.edu/doctors/james_c_dreese.htmlAssistant Professor of Orthopaedics
Team Physician, University of Maryland Terrapins

I'll let you know how that goes

Other recommendation, Johns Hopkins Greenspring Orthopaedics.  I was seeing a PT at Johns Hopkins Hospital but they weren't very focused on rehabing me for athletic activity.  I am switching to a new one next week and will get back to you on that recommendation.

I'm a general surgeon training in vascular surgery--trust me, you don't want me to.
