ran for about 5mins and then swam for another 5min.
Swim
  • 08m 20s
  • 547 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

started front row and all the way to the right. hit the gas immediately and jumped to the front of my wave. held the lead for first 250m and once round the buoy had another guy from my AG take the lead. I preceeded to sit on his feet and allow him to navigate thru the traffic while i rest. Near the end he veered off to the right so i finished up by myself with another guy in tow. finish about 2 secs behind the leader in our AG.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 1
  • 00m 58s
Comments:

had a good transition for once and managed to beat the 2 people that finished the swim with me out of T1.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 34m 56s
  • 14 miles
  • 24.05 mile/hr
Comments:

As soon as i hit the bike i nailed it to drop the other folks in my AG. The first stretch is a long up hill so i really floored it to get up the hill. I immediately put a nice gap on the others but i was really hurting heading into the rollers. I managed to keep a good pace and navigate thru the sea of bikers already on the course. The rollers were tough b/c my legs were still suffering from softball earlier this week. Now i was trying to kill it up and down the rollers so my legs were really hurting. Once i hit the tollway i was alone and had a tailwind. I must of been easily cruising over 30mph here. The last stretch of road after the tollway was another small climg into the wind that sucked. Great bike for me which i needed.
What would you do differently?:

lay off the softball.
Transition 2
  • 00m 42s
Comments:

had a little trouble getting one of my running shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Run
  • 17m 21s
  • 3 miles
  • 05m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Once out of transition I was in a full sprint and I think I did the first mile close to 5min pace. I started to slow near the first aid station b/c i was hurting. I originally wanted to run ez with a 6:15 pace but the competitor in me said think again. I past several folks on the run but for the most part I was alone. There were a few stretches where the headwind made things tough but i tried not to slow. Near the last half mile I tried to pick it up again knowing there were other fast guys racing in different waves so i needed all the seconds i could get.
What would you do differently?:

keep running full throttle thru out to hold a 5:30pace.
Post race
Warm down:

lots of fluids and some pizza.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

racing in my AG and not in an open wave with the other top AGers. Its tough losing to others by a narrow margin when you never see them on the course b/c you start at different times.

Event comments:

enjoyed the race other than no open wave to start the race.

Great race.

What did you do about the number of people who insisted on riding to the left?  Most would move over but a couple refused.  And I was polite in asking. I wish people would read the rules before they race.

Smoking fast race as usual.

Other than that sucky T2, it was perfectly executed. Well done!

I'm really looking forward to next weekend at BSLT and reading about your performance.
