Extreme Veteran 483 Austin, TX | Subject: Saddles: Adamo Race vs Adamo Road I went out for a great ride last week on my tri bike. I spent most of the ride on my aero bars and went 25 miles with an 18mph average. Unfortunately, I noticed some discomfort at the very end of my ride. Turns out I ended up getting a saddle sore... but it's finally disappearing. So I want to make sure I nip this problem in the arse (pun intended ) before I ride again. The saddle I'm riding is technically a TT saddle, but the padding around the nose isn't quite what I'd like it to be. I'm considering buying a Adamo Road saddle from my LBS. (It's not a brand they normally carry... I'm guessing someone ordered it it and didn't like it.) Will there be major disadvantages to an Adamo Road saddle compared to the Adamo Racing saddle? -Joel Edited by TXGreyhoundGuy 2009-06-22 11:27 AM |

over a barrier | Subject: RE: Saddles: Adamo Race vs Adamo Triathlon I don't think switching will solve your issue, first take a zip tie and have someone squeeze the two prongs together and zip tie them closer. This will help with some of the rubbing, I believe the road and race are the same width in the front with the road having heavier rails and it doesn't have the tranistion hook. I think there might be some more padding in the back.... Saddle sore and aero tells me you need to make the prongs narrower to reduce the rubbing. |

I think you're assuming that OP was already riding an Adamo. That's not how I read it. I think OP has got a traditional saddle, and is considering an Adamo. OP: more padding is not necessarily what you need. And in any case, the Adamo ain't gonna deliver on that. Neither of them has much padding, and since they don't really have a 'nose' in the usual sense, they definitely don't have padding on the 'nose'. You should definitely try out the Adamo before you buy. If you can try both types, then even better. I tried the road and the race, and like the race better, but as Bear said, this is no doubt very individual. If you do get one, I would definitely follow runng2far's advice and at least experiment with pulling the rails somewhat closer together. Without doing that, I get chafing on the inside of my thighs. |

Not hijack, but I sort of swaped problems. The "numbness" I had is gone, but some chaffing rubbing due to the width of the saddle is the new problem... Maybe just need to toughen those areas up some. |

I loved the placement relative to all my 'parts', but could tell by the end of the ride I have some new areas that will need to toughen up a little before I am truly comfortable. Overall though I really like it. |

IIRC the manufacturer stresses that you have to ride it for more than a "few rides" to get used to it. |
