I'm doing it. It'll be my first time. I've volunteered at CGI events, but have never raced one. Looking forward to it as they do put on good races .

I'm just hoping it's not too hot and humid. I guess it's typically not wetsuit legal.

I'll be there, unless business interferes and then I'll be pissed! Where are people staying? I know there is camping and hotels. I live about an hour away and undecided about driving up race morning or night before. Since packet pick up is Saturday, I guess it's looking like going up Saturday. Now, where to stay.....

I'm driving in race morning from about 40-45 minutes away.  Well, probably packet pick up the day before too.  Gets me out of the house!  I'll be visiting my parents and they drive me nuts!  My mom is coming to the race with me and then we're hopping in the car to drive to Florida...somebody shoot me now!

Good heads up on the non-wetsuit legal...what to wear, what to wear...

Tell me about it. I am thinking about racing in just a swimsuit. It would be my first time doing that. I would want to try riding in it first just to make sure everything stays in place but I can't work up the courage to go for a ride in just a swimsuit! I cannot imagine the types of things that will be yelled at me out of car windows!

I highly doubt I could do an Oly in a swim suit.

I just don't like my one piece tri suit right now.

I might wear it anyway and just throw a shirt over it for the run...

I just think all my tri suits (all two piece) create a little too much drag between the pockets in the back, or the zipper on the front, etc. I usually finish somewhat decent in the swim but this will be my first non-wetsuit race (well, except for my first season when I was just trying to finish), so I need all the help I can get.

Yeah, I love my one piece for swimming in...but think I look like a big old fat sausage in it....maybe because I do!  Hence why I like to throw a shirt on over it...though that gets a bit HOT in the summer.

This would all get better if I'd just lose the dang weight!

I'll be there - I hope to time it right on Sat. so Im there at 4 for the Uberman sooper dooper sprint. Should be cool to watch - I didn't quite make the cutoffs required to participate

I e mailed the RD earlier in the year about getting a BT tent at the expo - Im not sure how that works though - does someone have to stay at the tent the whole time or can we just have one as a central meeting point?

Also, if I remember correctly, there were folks wearing wetsuits. It's always right on the borderline. If no wetsuits, I'll swim in a bra and tri shorts. Not a pretty sight but it works.

The water is usually so warm it's gross, so there's no chance it'll be a wetsuit race.

Doing this as my 1st Oly. After my swim last weekend I was doubting it but decided today to just go for it as I know I can do it!!!

Wasn't wetsuit legal last year I don't believe but given the weather so far it just might be. I only live 5 minutes by bike from the Park but if anyone is looking for a hotel there's a fairly new small Mariott about 10 minutes away on Route 130 in Hamilton. Also a ton of places on Route 1 in West Windsor and Princeton that are within 10 minutes or so.

I am in the sprint, am I allowed to post?

This will be my third time at this event. Its always awesome. The people are great (the most spectators that I have ever seen at a triathlon event) and its just a ton of energy. Its great to come out of the water and see a column of people cheering you on...same with the bike dismount line and the finish. And as always, CGI does an incredible job.

Just a couple of comments based on the above posts. (1) it is almost a definite that it wont be wetsuit legal. Last year, people were complaining that the water was too warm (I thought it was pretty sweet..but I was doing the sprint. I guess I can see where 79-80 degree water can be annoying on a mile swim). (2) there should be no shortage of places to stay. Between West Windsor, Princeton, and Plainsboro there are just a ton of hotels within 20-25 mins of the race site. Just make sure that you get to the park early!! Our little town doesnt do so well when 6,000 people descend on the park all at the same time

This is going to be my first tri.  Two of my sons are doing it with me.  My oldest is coming out from California.  He's the one that got me interested in doing one before I turn 50.  And, my middle son will be doing his first tri too.  So, it will be really cool to do it all together.

That's great. Good luck and hope to see you out there. This is a great race to start as it's run so well.

I am in for the sprint, but ill post anyhow

Not sure what to wear - this would be my first non-wetsuit event ever.

It sounds like a great venue and fan support.

My wife and I used to live in the condos behind quakerbridge mall - this park is our old stomping ground.  i never did swim in the lake, though, but did plenty of walking hiking and such.

I'm in for the Oly, 3rd year in a row. I never wore a wetsuit at this race, but there were people at least once or twice...
Lauren, there are swimsuits with padding for the bike, Bree Wee did Ironmans in those.

Anybody wanna do a recon ride, preferably on a weekday?

This is my first Oly, and I'm really looking forward to the energy and all the activities surrounding it!   I was hoping that the cold weather up there hasn't kept that lake from warming up!

Check out the bike course if you can prior to the race, there are a bunch of turns through the college that can slow you down, especially if there is someone less experienced in front of you taking the turn wide.

Thanks for the tip. I've never ridden that part (run the sprint course quite a bit) but will plan on hitting that tomorrow!

I'm in as well.   First time OLY and first time without a wetsuit.  Am getting a bit nervous about the swim.

I am in for Oly my first one..... then my first 70.3 a few weeks later out in Lake Stevens WA.  I was told by my coach to be prepaired for a slower time in the water at NJ State ....  heck I will be happy when I am out of the water, not my favorite part by any means!!!!  We are heading out Sat and staying out there, will be hanging out afterwards in park with Jersey Shore Tri Club....
Looking forward to a great day out in the park!!!!

Anyone know what the water temp is right now?    Also, will they allow us to go for a quick swim on Saturday afternoon, the day before?   I don't know if there is generally public swimming in that lake or not?   But I live in DC so I won't even be there until Saturday morning.   Anyone know if that's been allowed in the past?   Or a quick spin on the bike course?  I'm interested in checking out those turns by the college as was noted a few posts ago.
