Subject: Cultus Lake Triathlon in Sept-Wetsuit needed?

Is going to be my first tri and wondering if i need to try and find a wetsuit to rent for it.  I'm 6"8 so any suggestions for places that rent would be great if need be!
Thanks for all the info!

After you'll be 6'2" if you swim Cultus Lake without a wetsuit in September.

So, take those as saying Yes, you'll probably want a wetsuit. I know Speed Theory on W. 4th in Kits rents wetsuits, not sure about Pacific Multisport, Tri 3 Sports in PoMo doesn't as far as I know.

I am swimming in Cultus right now. Its not bad. I think it should still be good the time it rolls around. We have a few people who swim without wetsuits there and they started in June.

Needing one is no, but haveing one is better. Just think if it is cold, how much faster you will swim to get out of the water!!!

And do check out www.trigeeks.ca

Probably the best service out there.

trigeeks has excellent service and owner is willing to work around your scheduele. When I did the wetsuit fitting with her, she met me at the pool and we tried several different suits...I was impressed. And she does rent suits--has a good selection.

I am thinking Cultus as my third and final tri this summer and I am also thinking of doing it sans wetsuit.  Septemeber should be the warmest i would think as the lake has all of July and August to warm up and would just start cooling off after the race.

I went to Trigeeks, and the service was excellent.. To the point that they sent me to Pacific Multisport for a better fitting (for my body size) suit... Putting the customer first like that is almost unheard of today..

Anyone swim in Cultus lake recently?  How is the temperature? I would like to the do the Olympic distance Triathlon next weekend but don't have a wetsuit and really don't want to rent one unless I have to.    I did the Iron Mountain Triathlon at Whonnock lake without one and that was fine.

Thanks for any info or advice.

We just swam Cultus Lake tonight. Water was coolish-warmish. It felt great! Someone swam without a wetsuit, no problem. Even in the morning on Sunday, the water will be fine. Plus, it's sunny and hot for the rest of the week. Good luck this weekend!
