Does anyone know how I can get hold of the race course outline? It is not available on the London Triathlon Website and I'd like to go and check it out and see if there are many hills for the run!!

What distance are you doing?

I run it last year and the course is nearly flat. There is one decent where you exit the transition and then you have to run up the hill to go back to the finish line. No biggie or anything.

I'm doing the sprint version but it is my first triathlon and I am scared of hills at the moment because my knee gives up on me running down them.

I haven't seen the course details but that area of London is fairly flat.  Will ask around and see if anyone I know did the course last year.

Yeah, i done the sprint last year. Its a really flat course apart from the hill that i mentioned which is only for about 10 secs. Shouldnt be no trouble on your knees.

Thank you! Reassuring!! How do they do the swimming part of it? I assume womens same as mens, I didn't have to give a time for my swimming leg and it's by far my worst?! I'm worried I'll get swallowed up!!

Is there somewhere I can go to see the results from last year?

is the sprint 400m or 750m in the swim?  You doing sprint or supersprint? The swim is a mass start in age groups where you wait in the water until the horn goes off. Then everyone sprints for position. Half way, you have to turn round a buoy to the left and swim back the way you came, but moving to the right so that you are closer to the swim exit. At the exit, they give you bags to put your suit in, then your off.

Any other questions, i will be happy to answer...

It's a 750m swim, I am slightly worried about that part of it but will hopefully be ok!!

Thank you for the replies!! Are people allowed in the transition zones? Like one person holding your bike or whatever?? Or is it a sole effort completely?

Only people who are taking part in the triathlon are allowed to enter. You have a security wristband and there is like a security section before you enter transition checking your band and numbers etc

The bikes are on a rack and it is a solo effort all the way!!!

Heres the race format:

Race Format

The London race starts in the Royal Victoria Dock.(ExCeL). Competitors will enter the water via a pontoon and wait in the water until the horn starts the race.

Swimmers exit the water via a pontoon and will take their wetsuits off, place it in the bags provided, and enter into transition. Competitors will find their bikes in transition and make their way to the 'Bike Out' exit. Competitors are not able to start cycling until they are outside Transition and safely in the 'Bike Mount Zone'. Helmets must be worn at all times.

Once the correct number of bike laps has been completed, cyclists enter transition via the 'Bike In' entrance, dismounting in the 'Dismount Zone'. The cyclists then rack their bikes in the designated spot in Transition, and head out on the Run leg via the 'Run Out' Exit. After the correct number of run laps each competitor crosses the finish line and claims their finishers medal!
